Lovely location- the town of Ellastone is sweet, with a fantastic pub. Nice and quiet on tucked away on a lane, with lovely neighbours. Good central location to go up into the Peaks District Nat Park, and also for a full day trip down to the Cotswolds. Updated semi detached with living and kitchen downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Had most things that would be needed. Milk was kindly provided along with tea and coffee. Lots of light in the flat. Good parking spot right outside the door.
Major issue was electricity. For some reason it was via a prepaid metre. Electricity ran out half way through my stay- the owner was very responsive when I messaged her, coming straight away. She topped it up, saying it was extremely unusual that it ran out. Implied was that I was using an excessive amount. She was polite but seemed annoyed. As I was out through the day, and like dim lighting, didn’t cook and didn’t use the drier I don’t know that this could be the case. Even though this was promptly resolved I then felt uncomfortable switching anything on. And by the time I got up on my final morning the electricity had run out again. I didn’t bother with contacting this time, just packed and left, as messaged the owner to let her know once I had phone reception. The owner may have been really prompt and apologetic etc if I had have reached out that final morning, but after her initial response I didn’t want to risk feeling low key judged.
Having electricity not continuously available, without owner needing to pop in to top up, is not really good for a holiday let (even if the use was ‘more’ than expected)
