Location is what you’re paying for. Most lovely beach with hardly a soul in sight. some minor inconveniences about the house but nothing major. The home has no ac which is typicalof most beach houses, but, with two smallchildren, on the warmer days, leaving windows open can be too unpredictable. Some room fans would be great especially in the back room where there isn’t much of a breeze. Some windows were missing blind sleeves and in the master, the blinds that you push up and pull down to operate did not work at all and unfortunately they were on the only window that opened obstructing the view and the airflow, some. The place had a lot of wear and tear however I will say, it still managed to feel pretty clean. Like I said, small things that could only improve the stay because it really is such a special location.

We had a fun and relaxing trip to this beautiful oceanfront condo! Security at the property was great. Even ended up cancelling initial plans to drive to Monterey for a fancy dinner, as we didn't want to leave even for a few hours! Loved the school of dolphins that dropped by to frolic in the waves, along with an interesting variety of avian species crossing the skies in front of us. Recommend!!!

The location is great and the view is amazing. The unit needs updated. The carpet is dirty and stained. The master bathroom needs updated too. We did not have enough bath towels. I recommend placing 3 bath towels per bathroom. The upstairs 2nd bath had no bath towels at all.

We enjoy our stay at this amazing home. It was extremely clean and beautiful. Pictures didn't do it justice. Loved the view from the master bedroom, even saw dolphins playing near the shoreline. Perfect location as it wasn't far from all the festivities.

The check in went smoothly other than my difficulties accessing information on the VRBO site. It kept wanting to direct me to the page to rent the site. It is not likely to be a problem if I use VBRO again in the future. The front door key pad worked fine. The hosts (John and Lisa) were very prompt in responding to my questions. The kitchen was very well laid out and stocked. One of the best that I have had in a vacation rental. Great for 6 persons. The living room was comfortable for gathering and conversations. The bedrooms were good for a beach house. The bathrooms had limited shelf space and some problems with sink and shower drains, but nothing serious. Overall it was a fine location. In addition to the washer and dryer they provided an iron and ironing board - and distilled water for the iron! :- )

The sunset water views are spectacular, unfortunately, our week fell when the Tsunami watch was issued. The HOA security made us feel secure with notifications and directions in case of an evacuation.

Amazing Views

After driving from Iowa seeing the dunes colony was amazing as it felt we were in the country, it was very nice to be away from the hustle and bustle! Walking into the home the first thing your eyes go towards is the view from the windows! Even though we traveled out and about, it was great to come back to this home and be able to walk the beach.

Great stay on Monterey Bay!

Admittedly, we were a little taken aback as we approached—it felt more like a charming farming community (the Artichoke Capital!) than a seaside villa or marina—but any hesitation melted away the moment we stepped inside. Waking up to the sound of rolling waves set the tone for the entire trip. Each evening we were treated to beautiful sunsets. We ventured on a whale-watching tour in Monterey and were thrilled to see dozens of majestic humpback whales and playful sea lions. Despite our best efforts, we didn’t spot any marine life from the deck. One member of our group ran the Big Sur Marathon. We loved being close enough to drop them off at the bus and sprint back home for a few extra hours of sleep before cheering them on at the finish line!Back at the property, the pool and hot tub on-site were a wonderful treat after the marathon, and the grounds were perfect for kite flying on breezy afternoons. The accommodations had everything we needed, from a fully equipped kitchen to cozy bedding. Peaceful, picturesque, and perfectly located—this oceanfront gem exceeded every expectation!

This beach property has been in our family for over 20 years. As kids, we remember taking family vacations to Monterey Dunes Colony. We enjoyed spending time together in the sweet sanctuary of the private beach...a beach that is so private, it feels as if it is your very own.

We made memories on the sands of this beach, watching dolphins, otters and even whales swim by! We collected sea shells and sand dollars and giggled as tiny, digging crabs left behind bubbles in the sandy surf. We built driftwood forts and elaborate sand castles - we dug endless holes and studied everything that washed ashore. We delighted in the snowy plover running so fast they seemed to be on wheels. And after watching birds fly home for the night across an orange sunset, we ran excitedly into the house for hot chocolate and a warm bubble bath.

As adults, we find serenity with each inhale of ocean breeze and relax as we gaze at the sunset horizon that brings a crisp moon to watch over the diamond studded sky. We are grateful to be able to share this magical place and we welcome you here to find peaceful retreat and make special memories of your own.
