Mahalo, Erin! We are surprised you needed more kitchen items, since we fully stock the home with a comprehensive supply of cooking tools and appliances. If you were missing anything, all you needed to do was contact us and we would have replaced it! As with most homes on Kauaʻi, this one is not air conditioned.

Superb vacation

This oceanview was hard to leave. Whale sightings almost every day from the lanai.

Review

All was great. Had a water problem in one shower, so we couldn’t use it for over Half our stay. But property management stayed on it and fixed it, and gave us credit without us asking. Well done.

Location is everything!

Our stay was wonderful. Truly the location can't be beat. Beautiful ocean view and a quick walk down to a private beach! The property itself left a lot to be desired. As mentioned in previous reviews the unit (aside from the showers) hasn't been updated in a long time. My guess is the early 90s. The refrigerator while functioning is rusty as is the washer and dryer. The cabinets are stocked will all the kitchen wares you need but the hinges are loose and they tend to swing open. The unit could use some updating but we didn't go to Kauai to hang out in a condo we went enjoy all that the island had to offer so in the end it was a great stay.

Oh! That View!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location and view were important to us and we definitely got what we wanted. The unit had two nice private bedrooms each with their own bath which was great as we shared with another couple. Great showers. Wonderful Lanai with views of mountain, ocean and many rainbows and whales. Big enough for four adults to all sit out there. Ceiling fans and plenty of cross breeze made AC unnecessary. The unit was clean and had what we needed in the kitchen. Not a fan of carpet in rentals but. The. View!!

Location location location

See title. We love staying in this complex overlooking the mouth of Hanalei bay. The unit was fine. Nothing fancy. Owner/property manager could put a bit more care into upkeep. Delaminating countertop trim, light over stove not working, lights elsewhere not working. But, we REALLY enjoyed staying here and when we had a question, property manager responded very quickly.

Mahalo for your review, Emily. We price this home according to it's condition as well as for the magnificent views, and the photos on our listing do accurately reflect itʻs situation. You didn't inform us that there were lights that didn't work, but we sent someone to check now that we were made aware. However, we were not able to find any non-functioning lights, and subsequent guests have not reported any. Had you contacted us, we would have been able to assist you. We hope you'll have another opportunity to visit!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Love the Pali Ke Kua property, it's location and views are amazing. Love walking the grass and enjoying the views. We also loved the views from unit 203. 203 could use some TLC though. Rust on the refrigerator, all cabinets hinges worn out so they don't stay closed, all closet sliding doors do not stay closed with rusted adjustment plates, cob webs, no lounge chair on the deck.

Things need updating

Air conditioning of some kind needed between 3-6 pm the heat was unbearable. Sun shades needed on balcony would help. Location and view amazing. Unit needs bigtime updating. Fridge is rusted thru and ice maker doesnt work properly. This is my 8 th time staying in pale ke kua never will i stay in this unit again unless its updated.

Please note that very few homes on Kauaʻi have air conditioning since our climate is generally mild, and we spend most of our time enjoying the outdoors during the day. We're sorry you had a problem with the ice-maker, but unfortunately we were not informed about it for us to repair it during your stay.

Beautiful location; unit is rough around the edges

Pali Ke Kua is perfect in every way. We rented two units for our family. One unit was updated and very well furnished. This unit was dated with old formica and not very well furnished, particularly the kitchen; bare bones. There was a lot of rust on appliances (which happens with salt water, but still...a lot), old cabinets that don't close, only basic kitchen supplies, and carpet that didn't look very clean. There were not enough outlets in bedrooms for the fans supplied. That said, the view was spectacular, and the location perfect!

Mahalo for your review, Julia. This modest vacation home is priced accordingly, so you probably paid far less to stay here than at your other rental. We do not toss appliances into our very limited, island landfill when they become rusty, which they will in our climate. The kitchen is fully stocked, with pots and pans, cooking, serving, and eating utensils, bakeware, large and small appliances, including full-size stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, and rice cooker, among others. We're not sure what you might have been missing, but you didn't inform us. Had we been notified that anything was missing or wasn't properly cleaned, we would have sent the housekeeper. We don't understand your comment about the outlets as there are plenty for the fans in the home. We are glad you liked the location and view!

Very Disappointing

The view from the lanai is incredible, and the private beach below is great; but those are the only two good points. This unit is run down and in dire need of extensive maintenance and renovation. All the appliances are rusty, many of the cabinet doors are disintegrating on the bottom edges, the composite wood base layer on the countertop is disintegrating and bulging beyond the laminate along two edges, some of the windows above the patio doors did not operate, the washing machine agitator came off in the middle of a cycle, and many of the interior door hinges as well as the table on the lanai were rusty. Oceanfront Realty was great to work with and very responsive to our concerns; but they do not control the issues that need to be addressed.

Please also note that this condo is priced very economically; you will not find a comparatively priced, similarly sized unit at the Pali Ke Kua complex that also has such an amazing view.

Disappointed

This was our 14th trip to Kauai and the 3rd time we have chosen to stay at a Pali Ke Kua condo. At #203 the views are amazing but the condo is very outdated and old which we could tell from the pictures but not to the level that it actually is. The side of the fridge is rusty, as are other things and every time you opened the fridge the upper cabinet door opens. The sliders and screen doors are old and hard to open and the floor length curtains are stained and dirty. The showers have been beautifully updated but NOTHING else! If the owners did the entire bathroom or condo in the same tile and color theme as the showers the condo would look amazing and be so much cleaner! Our first night there around midnight, we discovered water dripping from the ceiling in the master bathroom. There was a good size puddle on the floor. We went upstairs to see if something was leaking but could not find anything so we had to call the emergency number for the property manager. She picked up right away and was very concerned as well. She called back 30 min. later with a new place for us to move into the next morning down the street. This condo was beautiful with an ocean view. The property manager was very kind and helpful and we really appreciated the efforts she went through to make sure our stay on the north shore was comfortable and enjoyable. The only way we would come back to stay is if it gets a full renovation.

Kauai Vacation

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property view was what was advertised. Spectacular sunsets. However the furniture shown is not what was in the unit. It was in need of deep cleaning. The curtains all needed to be cleaned . Their was a lot of dust and cob webs in the upper walls and the fans were dirty. The refrigerator and dishwasher have a lot of rust on the outside and bottom panels. However the beds were very comfortable. The shower stalls in both bathrooms were large and clean. Loved the sit down area of the shower stalls. I would also recommend that in the advertisement of the unit you let guest know that there is an remediate stair case into the living area of the condo as I almost fell forward down the stairs as I was letting in my husband and the suitcase. Was a little surprised to say the least. Once we got used to it we were ok. I would recommend the unity to younger families but would not recommend to seniors. The beach is very difficult to get down to and coming back up was a challenge.But you could not beat the sunsets. Also keep in mind that the island has a lot of chickens roaming around that love to crow at the crack of dawn. Great if you want to go see sunrise not so great when you want to sleep.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our first trip to Kauai and based on previous reviews was unsure about booking this place. I'm very glad I did. We are a family of 5 (three adult daughters) and the BEST feature is the location/views. There is a beach beneath us that is a hike "Hideaway Beach", secluded, rocky and gorgeous. But, the 1 Hotel beach (sandy, snorkling) is a 20 min walk from the condo. The unit had newer couches than the ones pictured. Yes, the unit is older with basic, worn out appliances and countertops, but everything is functional and clean. Bring your own toiletries and laundry detergent Their supply was not enough for 6 nights. They didn't have a hose/water to rinse off muddy hiking shoes or sandy slippers. We were comfortable with opening windows and the fan. No AC was not an issue. Bedding was adequate. Bathrooms were more updated and clean. Can't say enough about the views. We spent a day on the south side, came home late and there were no parking issues. The parking lot is close and convenient to the front door. Highly recommend doing any excursion allowing you to see the Napalii Coast and while on that side drive and view Waimea Canyon.

We appreciated the beach gear and cooler! The new couches are clean and comfortable, and the kitchen is functional. We are glad we brought our own stereo speaker; the outdated cassette deck in the unit is essentially useless without cassettes.We recommend buying bottled water for cooking and coffee. We were happy with water served elsewhere, but coffee made with water from the kitchen tap tasted horrible.Overall, we were very happy with the unit and its location.

The furniture is newer and more comfortable than shown in the photo. Go out on the lanai to enjoy the mountain view, and sit on the sofa (2 sections, no separate chair) to enjoy the ocean and cloud views. Walk along the path by the golf course to see more mountains and breathe the air (and don't miss the rainbow eucalyptus trees).

Needs some updating and minimally furnished. Carpet is old and outdated could use a replacement. And We spent $100 renting chairs and umbrellas only to find the unit had some in a hidden closet door inside of another closet. And the kitchen has bare minimum. The unit suits our needs for space, location and view so we would happily stay again and love it here!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were delighted that the pictures did not deceive that showed this condo being oceanfront with a great view. Bali Hai and the sound of the waves were great. We did have a few issues (a lightbulb was out and there wasn't a spatula in the kitchen) but they were addressed very quickly. The condo is quite dated but clean and serviceable. We ate every breakfast out on the lanai. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub near the pool several evenings.

Amazing views and peaceful evenings in a perfect location!

The property was just as pictured but the pictures don’t do the views justice! The patio was heavenly, the location was perfect, the unit was clean, the beds comfy, and the only thing that was missing was salt and pepper ;) Love this unit & super easy to deal with booking, checking in, etc.

Location, view, quiet

The view from the balcony, and the grounds themselves are fantastic . The finishes in the unit are tired and worn. Rust on the refrigerator and peeling Formica countertops. Lots of deferred maintenance. We like Pali Ka Qua a lot but we won’t book this unit again.

With a fantastic view of the ocean and Bali Hai, this property is well maintained and in a great location. The unit is spacious and comfortable, but could use updating.
