Loved the decor and furnishings of the house, had that old world lived in feeling. Very nicely set up with interesting articles of decor and pictures everywhere.
However, on the practical side, when we arrived (April) the house was very cold and did not get warm for another 24 hours, really uncomfortable. My biggest complaint is that there were no window coverings on the 6 windows in the master bedroom! Resulting in us being awakened by the light coming in at 5:30 - 6 a.m. for the 4 mornings we were there. I actually left feeling more tired for lack of sleep, than when we arrived.
Whoever cleaned the house did not do a good job. Quite a few cobwebs and dust. Counter in the kitchen was sticky. The placemats for kitchen use were not clean at all, some food sticking on to them from previous renters. The coffee grinder that was supposed to be in the kitchen never did show up. Our 4 coffee drinkers were not happy.
Heads up if staying in the area next year, check dates for the Big Sur marathon. This year it took place last weekend of April. Unfortunately for us a brass band, supporters and food tables were all set up right outside the house. Band started playing at 7:30 a.m. The really bad part was, we could not get out of the house until noon. Road was closed to traffic. We had planned to attend the11:00 a.m. services at Carmel Mission, but were stuck at the house until all of the participants came through.
As I said, very mixed experience. If I thought the house would be cleaner, warmer and definitely have window coverings I would go back, but the manager needs to do a much better job of making sure everything is as it should be.
