Hello Anna Maria,
I do sincerely apologize for the issues with both the AC and the dishwasher during your stay; both had been working perfectly until the day of your arrival - unfortunately. Not at all what we want our guests to have to deal with and I sincerely apologize that you encountered any issues at all during your stay.
I'm quite disappointed you chose to leave us such a poor (and also untruthful review), particularly after we met your demands and conditions, which were as follows:
"I would like a $1,500 refund for our stay. If not, I will leave all this in a review, contact VRBO and my CC company. I do have pictures of everything.
I also expect to receive back the $1000 for the security deposit, as we left the villa exactly as we found it."
"...I expect this resolved by tomorrow"
We profusely apologized and also responded immediately with:
"We would be happy to refund you the $1500 you are requesting, and of course we will process your $1000 damage deposit as well. The refunds will be reflected in the next 1-2 business days..."
But sadly you you didn't hold true to your initial statement and posted a terrible review anyway.
YES, Indeed the ac in bedroom 2 and dishwasher were both temporarily out of order. Many sincere apologies for the inconvenience that may have caused you during your stay. We were attempting to fix the problems as quickly as possible, but sometimes island life makes that a bit more difficult than you might imagine, regarding technical/mechanical repair parts supply specifically. Sadly most of your other comments are simply not true, or made without proper context, or even out of context.
For example, you assert that we didn't tell you the pool heater was inoperable until 2 days before your stay. Not True - I told you on May 1st, five days before your stay, and easily documented in our messages. But hold on one minute - at the time of your reservation confirmation you hadn't paid the fee for pool heat, nor did you ever attempt to pay the fee for the pool heat. But it was mentioned that the heater was out of order and suddenly this became an issue for you too - but only after you had combed through the prior reviews, as if arming yourself for this "battle" ahead of time!
nonetheless, I think it is safe to assume that you obviously didn't want to or intend to pay for the pool to be heated - and therefore I'm not even sure why this is even being brought up in the first place.
Regarding your comments about unsanitary conditions and unsatisfactory cleaning, I could not disagree more. The same professional cleaning company has cleaned this villa (and many others) for several years without issue.
We treat each property with an anti-viral professional spraying prior to every arrival, and at no cost to the guest.
To bolster this claim, you took a picture of one towel with a tiny spot on it. BUT I brought you 10 EXTRA brand new towels before you even arrived - at your insistence:
"Please have more towels available for us. You can not expect 10 people to use only 1 bath towel the whole week we are there. And I shouldn't be expected to do laundry. I would also appreciate more hair dryers. We are several women/girls and can't be passing around 1 hairdryer."
We graciously obliged, of course! Disaster averted...or so I thought.
You also complained in your review about being inconvenienced by maintenance personnel -- after requesting maintenance personnel, which is also a bit confusing.
Your pictures of the "dirty kitchen" (actually a pic of brewed coffee in the coffee pot) were taken at 11:49pm (thankfully you texted me the pics too, so I was able to see the timestamps). But - one problem though - You had clearly already cooked a meal - and at least 10 people had already used the kitchen for at least 6 hours by this point,! The recently clean frying pan can be seen drying above the dishwasher in your pic of the "out of order" sign on the dishwasher.
The kitchen had clearly already been cooked in and thoroughly used when you took the pics!
If there was truly an obvious issue with cleanliness (you truly didn't supply any relevant pictures of any of this) - why not say something during the check-in/familiarization process if it was so obvious or glaring? We would have gladly addressed it immediately for you. You also mention food in the sink drains, but supplied no proof of this either.
We are not perfect, but these aren't mistakes that would go unnoticed by the cleaning crew or by the subsequent inspector.
Again, without a doubt, there were two very regrettable issues during your stay - that sadly could not have been avoided. I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. This isn't the norm - Calypso Delight gets fantastic reviews all the time...and both issues you encountered have since been fixed - and as promptly as they could have been. And also why we gladly offered you a $1500 refund (approx. 20% off), along with many very sincere apologies along the way.
When I came to the villa to personally see you off and to help with all your luggage, you told me face to face as I shook your hand that you "had a great time!" with a smile. The same sentiments were immediately repeated by your daughter and the other ladies nearby. Everyone was obviously quite happy!
So I loaded up 11 suitcases into my truck at 10:45am ...and dropped them almost 5 hours later curbside at the ticket counter - at 3pm sharp, for you, as promised.
Then, almost out of nowhere, a group of children (and one adult I think) that I had never seen before swarmed around all the luggage I had just unloaded - and disappeared into the crowd.
We truly always do our best to give all our guests amazing service, beautiful accommodations, and incredible experiences. I'm very sorry you felt like you did not receive that from us (and I do sincerely apologize) - hopefully the refund will have made up for it somewhat!
All the best!
