This apartment has been carefully renovated. The bedrooms are large, and the two bathrooms have heated towel racks and modern lighting. The kitchen for me was the best room in the house, full of light, spacious and very well equipped.
There are a couple of downsides: there is no place except the kitchen table to work, or use the computer. The bedrooms have small tables, but not big enough to accommodate a notebook and dictionary. The other downside is the Santa croce area. It has become the place for young students to find housing, and the noise of their partying goes on every weekend till three or four a.m., often in the building and invariably in the surrounding streets. So if you are a light sleeper it is difficult to get rest. The building does not have an elevator and this apartment is on the second (European) floor, which means the third American floor. There are about 38 steps, so if mobility is an issue, this might not be the best choice.
There is a good supermarket 5 minutes away, and an open air market about 12 minutes away, open from 7 a.,m. to 2 p.m., with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The central piazza of Florence is a 15 minute walk away.
I can't say enough good things about the landlady, Daniela. She is extremely helpful, takes care of problems immediately, and responded quickly to all my emails when we were discussing my tenancy.
The apartment comes with washing machine, ironing board, a drying rack (no dryer), dishwasher, and a TV for each bedroom.
