Hi Lisa! I'm so sorry that you folks were cold! That's why we provide the space heaters to use for your comfort. I wish you had told us you were cold as we would have provided you with a few more! She's an old building with steam heat that cycles several times a day. In fact, we exceed NYC guidelines for temperature during the day and evening as we know the building has a tendency to get cold. (We live here too and I hate the cold!). Thank you for you other comments - we really appreciate it!

Hi Teresa, We are very sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with your stay. As you can see - all of our reviews are 5 star, and we take great pride in maintaining a very high standard for all our guests. I'd like to address each your concerns starting from the top. MILDEW SMELL: Frankly we are quite confused about this as no one has ever mentioned a mildew smell, including the other tenants in the building (who pay very high rents).. I am also very sensitive and allergic to mildew and very proactive if I ever catch a whiff of it. I even asked other tenants and guests in the building if they smelled anything and they said no. So we are at a loss as to what you are talking about. GARBAGE DOWN THE STAIRS: Unfortunately my husband was seriously injured in a car accident this past April and is unable to go up and down stair a lot - which he did explain to you and apologized for any disturbance. He was trying to take out the recyclables, which are quite heavy, and rolled them down ONE flight of stairs. This probably took less than 5 minutes. We are very sorry if this disturbed you. CHAIR SCRAPING: First, this is a multifamily building and there are people who live in the upper floors, so there will be some sounds that you'll hear occasionally. We go to bed early, around 11pm usually, and are not in the habit of moving furniture around in the middle of the night. So we are not quite sure what you heard. HEAT: Up until the time you arrived in NYC it had be unseasonably hot, and we had not had to turn on the heat. HOWEVER - we do provide supplemental heating units in the closet of the apartment - which is clearly indicated in the operations book which is clearly visible on the kitchen table. We welcome guests to use this supplemental heating units for their comfort. Once the outside temperature goes below 55 degrees as per city regulations the heat automatically goes on. Most buildings in Manhattan have steam heat (as evidenced by the steam pouring out of the manhole covers). As this was the first time this season the heat went on, it causes the pipes to expand, sometimes making a bit of noise. We are sorry if this woke you up - as you must be very light sleepers. We've never had any complaints about this in the past from guests or tenants. CONTACTS: I apologize for not getting back to you. I was out of town for an unexpected a family funeral for an unexpected and tragic death. HOWEVER - the operations book in the unit has THREE contact phone numbers in it. I have to ask why you did not contact the other two numbers with your concerns. DRAFTS: As far as any drafts are concerned - you may have noticed that there were still two window air conditioners in the unit. That is because it was still quite warm prior to your arrival, and were being used. Again, I have to ask why you did not call or contact us. We could have easily removed the Air Conditioners which had been left there as the prior guests had been using them and we wanted to make sure that you had the options to use them if you felt the need. CLEANLINESS: We take great pride in our housekeeping, and the cleanliness of the units is often mentioned in our 5 star reviews. Each unit is fully cleaned and sanitized between guests. If there are any housekeeping issues we will gladly send our housekeeping staff back to attend to them. However, you did not inform us of anything during your stay. Again, we are very sorry that you feel that your stay did not live up to your expectations. We operate several vacation rentals here and in New Orleans, ALL with continuous 5 star reviews. In fact, we have the high SUPERHOST status both on Homeaway/VRBO and AIR BnB. I grew up in the hospitality industry, and take great pride in making sure every guest is fully satisfied and we address every concern promptly (if we are made aware of it!) We do apologize that you felt your stay was 'disappointing' and hope it did not affect your enjoyment of our wonderful city.

Hi! We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Our door/buzzer system is to ensure total security for ourselves (as we live here) and our guests. Our front security door is on a keypad, which buzzes for 40 seconds to let you in the next two entry doors. We're sorry if you found this annoying. 40 seconds gives more than enough time to get through the doors. If there is luggage you can use the doorstops to keep the doors open while you bring in your luggage. Most guests appreciate the added security. The door to your area is separate from the entry door system, and is also a keypad keyless entry system (so keys can never get lost). We enjoyed having you as guests, and wish you safe travels.
