Clean roomy pet friendly quiet secluded all around amazing! We loved it we saw horses right at the house!! The beach drive was a challenge at night but still as breathtaking as it is in daylight! A unique adventure and we will be returning!Renee answered instantly and resolved what I needed!! The house has a hot tub which is also a bonus!! Very pretty up to date FULLY stocked with dishes/utensils! Love, love, love this place and we took our dog and she loved the beach and the beach is EVERYWHERE!!!Next time we will stay A LOT longer

After 40 years of OBX vacations, we decided life’s too short, not 1 week, but 2! Horse Inn Around was the perfect choice for our group of 7 adults. The home was spotless, welcoming, and beautifully stocked. The welcome basket and bottle of wine were such thoughtful touches! We spent every day on the beach, and this home was the perfect retreat after long, sandy days. We had plenty of space to gather in the evenings, cook big family meals, and relax. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the living room was cozy with ample seating. A couple of suggestions: an extra fridge downstairs for drinks would be helpful (we brought an ice maker for our coolers), and an outdoor shower would be a great OBX classic touch. Rene and Dan were incredible hosts, responsive, kind, and proactive. Rene called before check-in to give us a heads-up about the washer & dryer needed replaced and kept us updated throughout the week. We saw the wild horses on the property twice and loved how the house felt tucked away, yet we could still hear the ocean. Whether you’re a group of adults or a family with kids, this home is a wonderful fit. The game room downstairs is perfect for families! Thank you, Rene & Dan, for sharing your home with us. It was exactly the vacation we needed!

Everything was exactly how it was described! It's a beautiful home and a great location. Horses were seen! The beach ride to the house wasn't that great, so definitely get what you need before you go. Overall we would stay again!

Great Remote Beach Property

If you like a remote beach experience, this property is a great option. We set up on the beach, stayed all day, and regularly saw the wild horses on the dunes. The house was clean, comfortable, and we all slept well each night. We also enjoyed the hot tub!

Summer OBX June 2025

We had another great beach vacation on the 4x4 in the OBX! Weather was picture perfect. The ocean was clear and warm. Our hosts were very quick to respond to any questions we had, as well as quick to answer our call during our stay with a question. House was exactly as advertised.

Great house at the beach

Wonderful OBX experience with a cool house that allows you to park on the beach. We saw horses multiple times and the house had everything we needed. The lack of linens (sheets and towels) was odd, we don’t have some of the sheets for those size beds. But the place is remote so help is hard to find regarding cleaning and laundry so we get it. We travel a lot and it was just an unexpected quirk that got resolved for a fee. Just make sure you read the fine print. Overall a lovely home with great hosts and good communication. Would recommend.

Great week on the beach

My family and I had a wonderful stay in North Carolina thanks to Rene and Dan. Their property is on a lovely piece of land behind the dune field. It's quiet and isolated from the loudest aspects of the beach, but a comfortable walk or drive to the surf. We enjoyed picnicking on the patio and relaxing, very much.

Perfection!

Words cannot describe how wonderful this beach home is… Yes, I said home! My family and I enjoyed this place so much that we stayed another night, if it wasn’t for adult responsibility we would have stayed longer. The horses came right up to the house and walked the beach plenty of times, plus we got to see dolphins almost every day. The 4x4 beach was absolutely amazing and a great place to explore. We found the most beautiful shells on our morning and night walks. We definitely plan on making this apart of our new adventures in the futures. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

OBX Vacation

We visited during the 4th of July week. Despite the business of OBX during this time, it was very relaxing out at the cottage. Everything was just as described in the listing, we have 4 small children and everyone was very happy. We arrived during a huge thunderstorm and found some water leaking in. Contacted the owners and they responded immediately. Probably the best VRBO experience we have had. Loved it! ❤️

Quite and relaxing even with all the steps.. lol

The property is 3 or 4 'streets' back from the beach allowing for alot of peace and quiet. We were visited only once by one of the wild horses during our stay, which was fine. They roamed freely almost every day we were on the beach, especially in the evening. The top deck of the house allows for early morning sun bathing while waiting for the rest of the family to wake up and start there day. The kitchen was stocked with plenty if pots, pans, utensils and even some spices... The hosts were very respectful of our time in the house and let us know early in that someone would be stopping by with some products for the hot tub. All communications were timely and very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Loved the horses

We looked for the horses everyday with success and ease. We watched them play on the beach. We loved that the beach wasn't too crowded. The house was beautiful. Our family had such a great time we added an extra day to our stay. The hosts were very helpful with any questions we had as well.

A Relaxing Getaway

Our group consisted of 4 adults, 2 teenagers and a 5 year old - plenty of room in the home for 7 people! Definitely air down your tires. I can’t stress this enough. In some sections the sand loose, and others more compact. Parents - this is a great learning experience for kids too! We had our teens help with airing down & up. Make sure you do your all grocery shopping before entering the beach access, and have a cooler handy for things that need to be refrigerated. Upon arriving at the 4WD beach access, we saw a lot of beautiful horses. As a bonus, we spotted a school of dolphins too! The beach is very clean and not crowded at all. Once getting to the house, we were very pleased! The home is clean, tastefully decorated and the kitchen is stocked well with cooking / dining needs ( pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc). The horses DO in fact come to the house! They roam the neighborhood early in the morning and are on the beach for the day by mid morning. The hot tub was an added bonus and a great way to end the day, after an evening of making s’mores in the fire pit. The stars truly pop at night, too. Definitely add a constellation app to your phone. All in all, we had an amazing 5 day vacation! We only left the 4WD section twice - once to do some souvenir shopping at Wings and the other to jet ski. The rest of the time we were either at the house or the beach. When we visit the OBX again, we will definitely stay here.

Relaxing getaway

This was a great holiday getaway. Property is exactly as seen in the pictures. We arrived to a clean, cool home with the air conditioning and ceiling fans on awaiting our arrival. Our daughter also appreciated the snack selection that was prepared as an arrival gift, a very nice touch. Thanks for a great time... and oh yes, the horses did visit us.

A big surprise

I had no idea I picked a location that we needed 4-wheeler drive to get to the house I am glad this adventure happened because I was forced to face some fears It was beautiful and the horses were all over...I would really like to go back but my fears might not let me

Disappointed experience

I waited to leave a review to think on it a bit If you are looking for a relaxing beach this isnt it The only access to the house is the beach its a highway people driving 4 wide at 35mph on the beach wizzing by like its rush hour you cant relax. The beach is no where in sight of the house its way farther back in the wooded area if u didnt know u drove thier on the beach you wouldn't know it was thier. Second really disappointed in the cleanliness of the house especially for being shoulder season its very dirty it really needs a deep deep cleaning i know from previous stays at other places in busy season some things get missed its hard to be perfect in a short amount of time. The hot tub smelled like bleach maybe its the well water unsure.... also the water presssure is very very light in the shower which was not a great experience... the listing shows satellite tv i asked if it worked all that was avaliable was amazon tv u needed an account for and the tv in the living room area isnt smart enough to run netflix so tv options were limited.... positives we saw wild horses we had to drive and look for them but they are around..... all the places ive been im not sure i would go back for a beach vacation here it was not very relaxing..... also for being charged for cleaning and a dog fee for cleaning i expect a clean house.... we had something going on at home and were not enjoying the house so we decided to leave early.
