We arrived at this house last week for a 5-night stay, and at first look, we were very pleased with the location as well as the house. Checking in was a very easy process. This is where things went downhill somewhat. The house is a great space, lots of room and has provided a lot for guests as far as items within the house. However, we had several issues with cleanliness, which during a pandemic is definitely concerning. First, there were dead bugs and dust all over the windowsills. As we were exploring the house, we also found the basement to be in disarray, with a huge puddle, a pile of dirty rags on the floor, the ping pong table looked to be covered in stickiness from whoever played drinking games there last, and there were solo cups stacked on a workbench. As we moved stuff in, we had more issues with cleanliness, including finding blood on a comforter, and the stainless steel fridge in the kitchen with streaks where it looked like someone halfway cleaned it. In addition, the beds were stripped for linens and we didn't see any linens to put on the beds, and it took a call to the property manager to figure out where they were. There were also dirty dishes left in the dishwasher, presumably from whoever stayed there last. We took pictures of all of these things, and sent them to the property manager, who thankfully was quick to respond, although it was mostly to turf us over to the group responsible for cleaning the house so we could air our grievances with them about the clear issues with the cleaning of the house. We decided to let things go for now, and settled into the house. The first night, we thought we saw a mouse running around the kitchen, but were too tired to follow up on it. Later on in the trip we clearly saw the mouse running through the kitchen. Again, we contacted the property manager who responded, and said she would bring over traps and/or try and get an exterminator to the house ASAP. Late afternoon the next day a young guy showed up without warning and knocked and said he was putting traps in the kitchen. We saw the mouse again, but we were leaving so we really couldn't do much. Overall, a nice house, but having it rented through a company makes it seem like no one takes ownership. No one also reached out to "make things right" or offered any further follow-up for our stay. If the rental company can get in there and assure quality, this house would be a wonderful place to stay on vacation.
