The cottage is in an incredible setting and has many great features. The privacy and architecture, including skylights, exposed beams, and the front deck, are truly special. The kitchen is well stocked, the gas fireplace is cozy, and the little library adds a lot of charm. It’s easy to see why guests love this place. That said, the inside of the cottage felt worn and dirty. The floors needed a thorough cleaning (our dog ate a random gummy left under the nightstand, which could have ended badly). The laminate near the kitchen sink is coming apart. The towels were super rough and abrasive from heavy use. One of the worst parts was the jean duvet and pillowcases on the bed. That should be illegal with how scratchy it was. It was also very stained (see photos). Luckily, we found better pillowcases in the closet and removed the duvet cover. The pillows completely flatten once you lie on them. The couch itself was comfortable, but had a noticeable odor along the headrest and made a loud screetch every time you got up or down. The couch pillows were also very rough, worn, and dirty. The washing machine in the bedroom had black mold inside, and the smell was strong enough that we had to keep the washing machine door closed at all times to contain the odor. With better management and some TLC, this place could be MAGICAL. There’s a lot to love here, but the lack of cleanliness left us feeling pretty uncomfortable during our stay.
