I was a little surprised I got stuck paying another 145 at checkout. Room is okay, too far away from pool and beach. Toaster didn't work properly and one coffee pot didn't work either.

Hi Kristy, the tax is clearly mentioned in the VRBO listing so this should not have been any surprise. We never hide any charges. Regarding toaster and the coffee pot you never reached out to us to let us know this. Also if you call the front desk they would bring replacements within 30 minutes. For room placement, this is always assigned by Marriott. Thank you for your stay.

The Marriott Aruba Surf Club was a wonderful resort. My accommodations were great, clean rooms, a number of pools to enjoy. Many restaurants nearby to choose from. I want to thank my host for making this villa available.

It was a disaster. We were told our unit had an ocean view. It did not. We were told the host offered a guarantee of the best service. We received no service. When we checked in we learned that Marriott was fully in charge of room selection. It was a very busy time Sunday afternoon when we checked in so I wasn’t surprised to find a big line. However, I was surprised when we finally started the process that our receptionist seemed to have so many other things that needed attention that he kept heading off to try to deal with issues with other clients. So after waiting in line, we also had to wait at reception. Then our receptionist told us he was assigning a nice “Ocean View” unit. But he did with a smirk I didn’t understand until we saw the room. Finding the room was another issue. We were given no indication where the room was and the receptionist turned away to deal with another client before I could ask. Of course, we did find the room, but not before heading to the wrong wing of this very large facility. Fortunately, the room was as advertised and was very clean. But the unit was in the back of the building, on the second floor and only had views of the driveway into the garage and of the trash collection area. While disappointed with the views, we did think the room was okay for our needs and were ready to make our peace with the situation. The next morning the painters came. We awoke to find painters working on the exterior of the building looking in.

Long wait times and a lack of clear guidance are not the standard Marriott aims to provide, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused by the busy arrival period and the limited assistance you received at the front desk. Your feedback about the service and communication is being taken seriously and shared with the appropriate Marriott teams. Regarding the painters, we apologize for the unexpected disturbance. We understand how disruptive this must have been, especially early in the morning. Unfortunately we were not made aware of this work before hand, so we truly did not have a way to let you know this was going to happen. We do appreciate you noting that the unit itself was clean and met your basic needs, but we recognize that this does not make up for the overall experience you had. Thank you again for your feedback—it helps us identify where Marriott needs to improve. We would welcome the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future.

Our two bedroom unit at the Surf Club was just perfect.

Loved the Surf Club, especially the Lazy River. Rooms were spacious and we'll appointed. Best part was watching the sunsets from our private balconies.

Marriot Surf Club

Very nice property, rooms very clean, staff is very friendly. The pool and Lazy river are the best. i have stayed here twice and would recommend it to others. The only minor thing is that it is at the end of the hotels and is a little bit of a walk to get to the street and other restaurants.

Family Time

Very well-maintained and the air-conditioning was ice cold throughout the whole property and the food was great. I was just looking for a little more entertainment but overall it was wonderful. People were wonderful and the cab drivers were wonderful.

Great location and resort.

This was overall one of our best vacations. The resort was great with plenty of things to do. Located next to so many things. Like restaurants,beaches,boats,water activities and shopping. The manger of this property was absolutely awesome. The communication was top notch. Can’t wait to go back. Cheers!!!!
