This property presented just as described on VRBO. The home is on a quiet street, is convenient to town, is clean, & the kitchen is especially well stocked for a rental. Maybe the best part of all is that the host is so attentive! Any message I sent her through the VRBO app was very promptly answered! The majority of the sleeping area is upstairs. Gratefully, there is a front & back staircase - & I suggest using the front one! The back one has REALLY narrow steps! Enjoy your stay in this top-notch home!

BRH was an excellent selection for us for this trip. The property is well maintained and presents as described in the listing. The house is close to the airport and downtown Bangor. RHE OF SUNSHINE GROOMING

We made a trip to visit our daughter but it was also to help her open up her Pet Salon in Downtown Bangor. The house was a perfect location to her apt and the shop. The pictures on VRBO are what the house looks like inside.Remember it is an older home but has beautiful wood work throughout. It is a plus to have two bathrooms and a large kitchen as a gathering place. There is a deck with a fenced in backyard. The yard is shaded so just like anywhere can be hard to grow grass, there is a small front and side yard too.The owner went above and beyond for me on this trip. I had a special request and she was able to make it happen. I can’t say she will always be able to but for my request she did. Let’s just say my wife was very happy and I got bonus points for being a fabulous spouse. Ok on the stay, we do recommend this place and would stay again. The owner communicated with me when needed and allowed us to check in early but with traffic we weren’t able to take advantage of that extra time, unfortunately…but she was very accommodating. There is coffee, filters and a few things in the fridge that others may have left. So book the BRH and enjoy your stay like we did

Just WONDERFUL!

We only stayed one night at the big red house, but we absolutely loved it and wished we had booked at least another night! So comfortable, clean, spacious, everything we could need for a fabulous night. We will definitely stay there again when we’re visiting Bangor. Thank you so much!

My family stayed for a college visit to the University of Maine. The location was very convenient and very comfortable. If available for future dates I will be in town I will definitely stay there.

Enormous historic house

The photos do not do this house justice. It is absolutely huge. The neighborhood is impressive, as all of the other homes are similarly large and historic. The owner is kind and responsive. I have absolutely loved my stay here and I would highly recommend it if you are ever visiting Bangor.

Our 2nd Time

We loved the house. We stayed here once before in 2021. The whole process was smooth, communication was wonderful, house was spotless and comfortable, hosts are easygoing and very reasonable with no fussy rules. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you so much!

Great place to stay for a concert

Friends and I went to a concert in Bangor and stayed at the BRH ! It’s on a quiet street but still close to the venue and casino.

Great house in a quite neighberhood

The house is great, it has everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped, there a a lot of rooms. The neighberhood is nice and quiet. it is loacted just 5 minutes driving from Maine saving theathere, on the way back from the show, while everyone stood in trafic, we walled back to the house ! Cindy was great, answering all our questions before and during the stay .

Bangor Was the Perfect Hub

We had a wonderful time. Bangor is great to take day trips and has some really great restaurants. Our accommodations were good. We wished there had been dressers, closets or armoires for hanging and storing clothes Otherwise, the house was lovely and very nice.

I can't wait for your visit to the Big Red House in Bangor. Built around 1869, the historic BRH was my permanent home for nearly 25 years. So many wonderful memories are here. While in Maine, I was a television and radio announcer and can still be heard from time to time on stations still airing my voiced ads. Many of my family members were born and raised in Bangor and the surrounding towns. Bangor will always be our home, where we enjoyed performances at the Penobscot Theatre and delicious meals at boutique restaurants downtown; many holiday dinners right in the BRH kitchen! A river stroll along the waterfront is also something to look forward to. If you venture on a short walk just a couple blocks away, you will find the house of Author, Stephen King. It's red, just like mine! There is so much history to learn about the charming 'Queen City.' I understand why you have come to VRBO. Not only will you find deals on overnight stays, but it's just that feel of secure comfort that we love when we are away from home. I've traveled to many places, both in the US and in foreign lands, and I always enjoyed sleeping at guest houses and quant little inns. There's something special about staying at the home of a local. The Big Red House awaits you.

Why choose the BRH? The Big Red House is centrally located to all kinds of activities and popular spots in the Bangor area. One mile from the waterfront and 1 mile from downtown where you will find quaint shops and restaurants. Less than 5 miles to Bangor International Airport and entrance to I95. Ten minutes away from the Bangor Mall area, Home Depot and Lowes, chain restaurants like Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse, Uno's, and more. Twenty minutes from the University of Maine. Don't forget the Thomas Hill Standpipe just two minutes away in the neighborhood, which opens to guests only four times a year; one per season. Make it a point to climb the steps to the top!

The Big Red House holds a rich history within its walls. So many fishermen and ship captains called Bangor home. A few have owned the BRH. Bangor was once the logging capital of the US and the busiest port on the East Coast. The infamous Brady Gang Shootout of 1937 took place on Central Street in Downtown Bangor and yours truly was a participant in its reenactment a few years ago! If you walk through the many rooms of the house and decide to count its doors and windows, you will find about 21 of each. I think I miscount every time. Little cubbies found in some of the rooms, hard wood floors, tin and pine ceilings, and connecting bedrooms add to the special unique charm that makes the BRH stand out from other homes. Come see for yourself.
