FERN RIDGE PRIVATE RETREAT

We are both Retired High School Teachers, Graham Science and Lucy Music. The home was designed and ownerbuilt by us about 1985 to accommodate our family of 5 children, who grew up here and now have children of their own, but still love to return to 'Fern Ridge' whenever we can coordinate a family get together. Our youngest son and his family still live on the property in the other 'Little House' where we all initially lived. The house is in revival with many family visits now from Homeaway guests who like us enjoy the relaxing environment and facilities 'Fern Ridge' provides.
Our family (mum & dad and 5 youngens aged 5-12) are intrepid travellers, initiated back in the late 80's when we set off on our first overseas trip of 7 months around the world in 80+ days visiting Asia, Europe, United Kingdom and America and Canada before returning to our favourite 'Fern Ridge' and the tradition has stuck since travel is still high on the list for everyone.
One of the things we enjoyed most was family oriented lodgings and comfortable (not necessarily luxurious) but homely accommodation, where you could relax and feel most 'at home'.
It is our desire that Fern Ridge is just this for you too, to enjoy for a night or two or more.

Well, families grow up, move away, sometimes come back again... its that generation, but we have come to the conclusion most of our family has moved along with their own responsibilities and we think we've been empty nested, so have moved into apartment living just north of the city and instead of bush walking we are beach walking and looking through the trees at whales, waves and the grand expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Both experiences are beautiful and so the family home is there to share with you and we welcome you to our family sanctuary after 30 + years.

There is something very peaceful about a private 'home amongst the gum trees'. We love it in the winter around the fire, bushwalking and exploring the rainforest (Yes it just up the back), wallabies, kookaburras, koalas and the pleasure that comes from a special space with fun times around that kitchen table in the heart of the home. Eventually, everyone toddles off to their own room at the close of the day and rise slowly the next as the sun peeps out somewhat later over those tall gums.
If you forget something its just a brief trip to the bustling city down through the bananas, blueberries and avocados.

Adventure awaits all around this coastline and hinterland.

The climate is one of the mildest in the country, while they Swelter in Sydney and Burn in Brisbane we live on Mildly on the Midcoast.

Myriads of beaches to satisfy all choices and activities from World Rallies to Theatre to Extreme Sports in a pollution free paradise .... I need say no more.
