This was our first small island vacation and can’t say enough about the house, island, & hosts. Our vacation was not without some drama (more on that in a bit), but overall, one that will be high on the family’s list for a while. Getting to Money Island via the ferry was very simple. Pull up to the dock, offload & the house is right there. If at all possible, time your arrival with high tide as the dock at low tide is quite slick.
The house was exactly as described on the listing. Getting into the house was easy and within minutes of arriving the kids were off enjoying the beach & exploring. We did encounter a slight issue upon check in though. After the first use of the bathroom the only toilet in the house clogged. Despite our efforts to plunge the toilet was not functional. Not an ideal situation on an island to say the least. The hosts had been extremely communicative prior to check in and provided me with one of the cell phones should we need anything during our stay. I called the primary host, Greg, who immediately took my call and put in a plan to get the issue resolved. In under 20 minutes he had an emergency plumber dispatched to the island (which did take some time but only because they’re dependent on the ferry service schedule, contacted another resident of the island who agreed to let us use their bathroom if we needed to until it was fixed. Greg texted me the residents name/cell phone and sent a map showing exactly where their house was. After about 1.5hrs the plumber had arrived & fixed the problem.
Greg was extremely gracious during the entire event and treated the event exactly as one would have hoped. While completely out of their control we could tell he genuinely cared about our stay and wanted to do anything he could to make it great from that point on.
Overall, our time at Money Island was one that we’ll all remember and was a great end of summer get away. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, wake up & fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean put this one on the list!
