My husband, 8 year old daughter and large dog stayed here for 5 days. The house is adorable. The beds are so comfortable with down comforters and plenty of pillows. We slept with the windows open, and wonderful lake breezes and geese calling gently woke us around 7 each morning. That was sleeping in big time for us. It was so cozy and relaxing. The kitchen was fully - and I mean FULLY- stocked with utensils and spices. We stocked up on groceries at Whole Foods 30 minutes away in Frisco and cooked every meal there in the kitchen. It was perfect and we missed nothing. The cabin is decorated so cozy and comfortable. It felt like being home, but on a lake!
The house is actually on the hill, with the lake down below. You can't get there from the cabin, except to drive to the camp site, which is about 5 minutes away. This is okay because if you were right on the lake, you would have to deal with boat noise and bugs. We sat out each night an there were no bugs! And it was incredibly quiet and calm. The cabin is great, but the deck is AMAZING. You need to see it to believe it.
The reservoir was cold in August, but we were brave and swam and waded out every day. We found a wonderful spot where we could swim to rocks and watch the crazy people jump off the cliffs across the lake. There was even a sandy beach there. You should plan ahead and bring a boat or float devices because this late in the season, we didn't find any at any stores in Frisco.
We also did many hikes in the area - Cataract loop, which passes a waterfall, and Surprise Lake, etc. The views were incredible and the trails were well maintained, without being over-run by people. We brought our large, old dog and young daughter on the hikes and everyone had a blast!
Autumn was absolutely wonderful. She reminded us to watch the meteor shower and she was available for every question we had. This is a cabin in the country, so you have to expect things to be different. The water smells a little funny, but, as Autumn says, bring bottled water to drink and cook with, and you are fine. There was a small issue with the water pressure when we were there, but Autumn responded immediately with a solution, and had a repair person out the same day.
We spent the week basically holed up, but it looks like there is a lot of day trip options to Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Frisco and so on. This is a wonderful and amazing place to be. So magical. Do not pass it up! Book it today!
