Top 3 things. VIEW!, shower presuure and king bed!! You can tell the owners are improving things on the inside. Flooring, ceiling, kitchen,bathroom are all remodeled. Basic needs are there as deacribed. VIEW is amazing! Outside does not look like it has been updated yet but as soon as you see the view you wont notice. Clear lake saw lots of fish jump, some geese, birds and chipmunks. quiet and friendly neighbors.Train is close by and it was harvest season so went by regularly. Good bar burgers in town. Alexandria is only half hour.Perfect for a relaxing weekend for my husband and I. Best of all we got to check out late and watch the vikings win! Thanks Marnie!

Cabin is nicely decorated. Kitchen has every utensil, dishes and kettles that you need for making a meal. Lots of towels. Lawn chairs to sit on deck. Basically all you need to bring is food and your clothes! Owner quickly responded to every text.

Great communication! Amazing views right on the shoreline of the lake. Easy to get kayaks in and out of. This rustic cabin had everything we needed and the hosts really take care of the place. The small town of Barrett is a gem.

Decent little place - reasonable price

Our stay in the small town of Barrett was overall good. The property is a bit "rustic" from the outside but decent / clean on the inside. The neighbors were very nice & friendly. It was quiet, safe, and peaceful there. Pros : 1) WiFi, TV, Washing Machine & dryer all worked! 2) We were able to add our own TV accounts via Roku which was nice since it rained hard on some days / nights.3) we were able to fit a 17' boat in the garage (diagonally) during one of the more severe storms. 4) the dock was nice to tie the boat up to so we didn't have to trailer it every day. (bring your own bumper bouys)5) all plates, cookware, utensils, towels, etc were included.6) for us the fishing was great! We night fished from 7pm - midnight 4 of the nights and caught 30 walleye (15" - 23") and a handful of huge crappies. Cons : 1) short amount of time on hot water for showers. After a 5-10 min shower the next person will have to wait a while for hot water.2) the fire pit needs replaced. Some larger coals did fall through the rust holes in the bottom however there was a protective mat underneath to shield the wood deck.3) The AC unit did cool the house ok, however it was a bit loud if you tried to watch TV with it running and tripped the circuit breaker twice during our stay.

Great property

Clean, welcoming home accurately advertised. Great space for enjoying the views of the lake. We had a successful fishing weekend catching walleye, northern, bass, crappie, sheepshead, and sunfish. Charcoal grill and fire pit made for peaceful evenings.

We LOVE this place! It’s relaxing & comfotable…and there’s something magical about the deck…I can sit out there for hours. There are beautiful sunrise views, fishing on the dock is so handy, and people in town are so nice. I wish there was a ladder so we could swim here but the town beach is nice.

Great location and satisfying accommodations

Perfect for our 4 day/3 night summer getaway. Cabin included so much to enjoy our stay. The AC worked terrific and the dock was connected directly to the deck making super easy access to swim, fish and kayak. We loved the large deck, bbq grill & fire pit as well.

Reunion

Needed a place to stay for a reunion in the area. Perfect location for this, especially since we were at the Pavilion in Barrett one of the days. That was within walking distance. Awesome views of the lake from the porch and living room, the last night especially! Sheets, towels, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent etc all available at property.

Keep It a Secret!

No, that would be selfish. Me and my Son and Daughter all can hardly wait to return. Beautiful Barrett Lake is just steps from your door. The place is beautifully furnished, fun and well supplied kitchen. Air conditioning was great, and wonderful shower. Having the kayak available was a real bonus. It was so perfect, we almost don’t want to tell anyone about it, but we really will. Thank you for all you have done to great this lovely ‘Get Away’. VYONNE HOWG

The outside of the cabin looked a little run down but inside was updated and very nice. Great view of the lake right from the living room.

Great Time!

Had a great time and was perfect for what me and my friends needed only thing I would say is that the blinds in the living room don’t close and it’s a big window so it leaves little privacy. Other than that we had an amazing time and would defiantly recommend it fit 4 people very comfortably! The owner responded fast to any questions/concerns we had an overall an amazing time!

Parking was good. The street is very quiet. It’s an old path to walk down to the cabin, the outside lawn/ flowerbeds and cabin need attention. Inside the cabin was really nice and clean, new floors comfy couch nice big dinner table. However it’s lacking enough towels & wash clothes no instructions on how to operate tv/ ac and it could use some lamps. The deck and dock are nice but nearly impossible to get in / out of the lake it’s large rocks for the shoreline. It met our needs for our weekend motorcycle trip but I wouldn’t rent again if a weekend at the lake was what I wanted.

Great stay

The cabin was a great getaway for a weekend with friends. 4 women, I'd say any more people than that would feel crowded. The ceiling fan didnt work in one of the rooms so it got hot overnight, but the a/c in the living room helped for the rest of the time. The cabin is right on the water which was great and the deck was a nice size to hangout on. 2 in our group cut their feet on zebra mussels in the water, but there's not too much the owner can do about that, just a note for future renters. We werent looking for anything fancy, just a cabin on a lake to get together and this served that purpose. We had a great time.

Great view

What makes the difference for me of good vs great is the accuracy of the listing as well as things that make the renters more prepared for the stay. The listing is a little deceiving. -For example, the bunk house shown in the pictures is not included in the rental and is an additional $25 a night. It does not say that anywhere on the listing. It had also not been cleaned in some time. -Listing says it sleeps 5 but that includes the couch. It wasn't a problem for us because we had an air mattress but for someone who doesn't and expects a bed, that may be a problem. -I would say to future renters, if you're after esthetics for the outside of the building, ask Marnie for updated pics because the pictures are several years old as there is now obvious aging and rotting windows on the outside. -I know the owners have no control over zebra mussels in the lake but keeping up with lake reports for renters can help them prepare. Unfortunately, our dog cut his paw and we ended up with cuts on our feet after attempting to swim. If we knew, we could have brought water shoes. Overall, Marnie was communicative from the get go and when I contacted her about the bunkhouse, she asked what she could do to make it better. Since it didn't effect our stay too much, besides asking for money back, there wasn't anything to do at this point. My suggestion is to update pics, bunkhouse listing, sleep# and lake report. Overall we were satisfied. The view is wonderful and the neighbors are great.

My name is Marnie. I'm the mother of 12 year old twins. I spent 20 years in the financial industry; most recently working as Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Business Development.

Currently, I focus a majority of my attention on helping women find stability through sober, safe and secure housing. Once they have that, they can start building their broken relationships; most importantly with their children. ❤️

I’ve always loved traveling to new areas and wanted an opportunity to share my Barrett cabin with others.
