We stayed in a one bedroom ground floor unit here for 4 days in early April. Interior was exactly as described, clean and well kept. Ideal floor plan, very nicely laid out – not all square corners and right angles, but imaginative use of space. Nice kitchen, decent mid-level appliances with granite countertops and breakfast bar. Dishwasher is rather loud. Nicely sized dining and living areas, very comfortable. The only disappointment here was that the “fireplace” was really an electric fake unit rather than the gas we were expecting. There was an apartment size washer/dryer combo which was great. Bathroom is spacious, with separate shower and large soaking tub, large vanity area. The shower had a very vigorous spray which almost hurt, and we wish that there had been some valve to reduce the spray volume. The bedroom is large with a good sized pseudo-walk-in closet and plenty of storage. The HVAC was efficient, quiet and unobtrusive. The bed, linens and pillows were all very comfortable, as good as most 4 star hotels we have stayed in, and the development was quiet in the evening – we slept well. It was great to have a small porch (balcony for 2nd floor units) accessible through sliding glass doors to sit outside with a morning cup of coffee or evening wine.
Issues. First, our wireless internet access was incredibly slow to the point of being useless at times. It took over 1 minute to download 1 MB of data – pathetic. No excuse for that.
Second, if you make a reservation through VRBO as we did, you are NOT reserving a particular unit, you will get whatever unit is available when you check in, as in a hotel. Don’t pay any attention to the “balcony view” photos that accompany the listing – your unit is guaranteed NOT to have the ones shown. Your unit could be anywhere in the development. When we first checked in, we were given a 2nd floor unit which we were told had a great view from the balcony. When we walked in, we discovered that all we could see was the wall of the next building 20 yards away, so we went back to registration and asked to switch to a different unit. They were very accommodating, but there were only two other units available. One had a decent view, so it worked out. But try to check in early so that you can switch, otherwise you will just be stuck.
Third, think twice about taking a unit close to a pool, because we found that someone played annoying “high energy, upbeat” music there all day. Goodbye peace & quiet.
