Thank you for hosting your family reunion at Villa Mar Vista which is one of our largest family reunion oceanfront homes with accommodations for 22 persons if you rent the optional Casita. The view of the Pacific Ocean sitting in the Jacuzzi Spa are amazing as are the water views from the oceanfront Trex deck. We hope we can host your next 3-generation family gettogether at Villa Mar Vista in the future.

Thank you for highlighting some of the wonderful things about the house and the location -- front deck with glorious sunsets, friendly passers-by and wildlife sightings. The summer of 2026 has been challenging as San Diego has experienced record-breaking hot and humid weather. Extremely hot weather can promote algae growth, which we knocked down with granulated chlorine the morning before you arrived. We immediately refunded you for one day of pool heat, as we agreed the pool needed 4 hours to dissipate the granulated chlorine. By the next morning, the pool was crystal clear during our visit with you, and you agreed that the algae had been eliminated. We do not intend to "lecture" anyone, but we are clear in all of our listings about many things -- 1) gas-fired pool heat is optional and the cost is $99/day; and 2) we have quiet hours starting at 8:00 at which time all outdoor activity should be brought inside or kept to the front deck where neighbors are less likely to be disturbed. We go to great lengths to be very clear and transparent on these issues in our listings, so neither of these items should be a surprise to anyone. If these terms do not work for your group, then the property is not the right property for your group. We are subject to the San Diego short-term rental rules regarding neighborhood noise regulations, and we comply with those rules as all responsible rental hosts should. Regarding cleaning, we always offer to have our cleaning crew return if guests are not satisfied -- our crews work hard, and if they miss something, they are happy to return and make it right. We would have appreciated hearing about your cleaning issue during your stay, as we could have sent a crew over the same day to address it. We certainly addressed the shower head replacement immediately the same day -- the house is large with lots of moving parts, and mechanical things do occasionally fail. We cannot prevent that. What we can do is address issues quickly when they are communicated to us. The funny thing is that the group who stayed the week before you left a 10-star review- they had a wonderful time. Same house -- same dishware, same fans, furniture, and carpets.
