Location

Parking in the driveway was a challenge due to the narrow road. House was fine, very clean and had every utensil in the kitchen! Very close to Sinttra and good beaches nearby.

Enjoyable vacation in Penedo

Lovely homely property with beautiful views. The communication with the host was very good and the housekeeper was very friendly and helpful. Driving around the local roads was tricky as they were narrow in places but we managed to navigate them. The decor in the house was really nice with lots of interesting art pieces and statues. Overall it was a great place to stay.

Beautiful property with gorgeous views in quiet friendly village

The property is spacious and homely. The village is quite remote and the roads are narrow so if you’re not used to driving or if you have a particularly large car you may find it a bit stressful. We used Uber to get around and that worked well. You can walk to a couple of local restaurants and the next village where there is a well stocked mini market. Beautiful quiet and restful place

Lovely house, beautiful views over valley to the sea. Decor very nice and big rooms. Bathrooms and kitchen all have modern appliances and hot water. Nice pool and lovely flowers in garden. Due to location, late afternoon before you get the sun. Quiet, peaceful location. Up to the house roads are narrow and getting a car onto the drive was a challenge, but overall, lovely place, friendly, helpful owners.

Great holiday home in a pleasant location

Thank you for the wonderful stay in your beautiful holiday home. The equipment is excellent and we just don't miss anything. It was clean and well prepared by the caretaker. She was very very nice, but unfortunately she doesn’t understand English. So the handover/introduction to the house was a bit difficult (there was a little problem because the heating took some time to start). But in the end, everything went well, we were helped and satisfied. We can highly recommend the accommodation.

Penedo - 12 day stay

My wife and I shared this home with two other adult friends and we found the house and grounds to be very nice, well kept, very livable and having much character. All questions and issues raised were quickly addressed by the owners and all in all our stay was very nice. The property would benefit from a dehumidifier as the house had a musty odor. Also, be advised, the drive up to the property is through extremely narrow roads, often of one car width, many blind curves assisted by mirrors and steep inclines. The surrounding area offered both fresh and indoor markets, nice beaches, a variety of restaurants and access to Sintra and Cascais within a 20-30 minute drive.

Fantastic break at great villa in Penedo

Booking was easy with great communication from the Villa owners. Our arrival was disrupted by flights being cancelled but Julieta & Howard were able to accommodate our late arrival. Villa is bigger than the pictures suggest & has everything you need. Car is needed to get around as Penedo has limited shops. As mentioned in other reviews, the roads in Penedo are very narrow & getting the car into the driveway does take a bit of getting used to. As it’s quite high up in the hills Penedo has a bit of a micro climate & it can be quite foggy and cool but drive for 10 mins out of Penedo and it’s sunny & hot. Lots of great beaches nearby and easy to get a train into Lisbon from Sintra.

Nach dem hervorragenden Internetauftritt, hatten wir eine andere Erwartung. Manches in dem Haus ist in die Jahre gekommen mit entsprechendem muffigem Geruch (was durch eine andere Bewertung bereits angesprochen wurde). Es waren auch nicht die auf dem Foto erkennbaren 4 Liegestühle vorhanden, sondern nur 2 ältere, Sitzliegestühle, von denen einer dann zusammenbrach. Auf dem oberen Balkon gibt es auch keine Frühstücksmöglichkeit - wie angegeben - der Balkon ist völlig leer. Die Verständigung mit Amalia, die nur Portugiesisch spricht (weder Englisch noch Spanisch) war etwas schwierig. Wir hätten das Haus in dem vorhandenen Zustand sicherlich nicht gemietet. Positiv kann man vermerken, dass die Küche und deren Einrichtung ok ist, auch die Aussicht und die Pflanzen im Garten. Die engen Straßen waren nicht das Problem, ein Spiegel an der Ausfahrt wäre sicherlich empfehlenswert.

Emplacement splendide, maison magnifique

un séjour formidable dans une maison bien équipée et très belle. Bon emplacement proche des plages, de marchés et de bons restaurants. Une vue magnifique de la maison avec coucher du soleil au bord de la piscine le soir! Hôtes très prévenants et disponibles. Nous réservons de nouveau pour l'année prochaine!

Our Sintra holiday

The house was lovely. There was plenty of space and it was also homely with many personal touches. The kitchen was well equipped. The garden was small but very attractive with spectacular views. The owners were very helpful and courteous. My only suggestion for improvement would be some information about local restaurants etc. because the driving was quite difficult we didn't want to eat dinner too far away and had to try to find local restaurants. On our last night we found a very nice one on the way to Cabo da Roca which we wished we had found earlier. The surrounding countryside is beautiful as are the beaches which are also very dramatic. The local supermarket and takeaway were invaluable. Thanks for a wonderful holiday which was only slightly marred by our friend contracting covid towards the end of the week!

maison au calme et très bien equipee

demeure calme et paisible avec belle vue sur la mer ,très bien équipée nous avons beaucoup apprécié le couchage, la piscine , le barbecue ainsi que la grande pièce à vivre du rez de chaussée. par contre l’accès au village de Penedi est un peu délicat en voiture , ruelles très étroites et qui mériterait d’être précisée dans l’annonce .

Romantic meets Comfort

Das Haus ist eingefügt in die pittoreske Umgebung des Ortes. Im Inneren entfaltet sich eine beachtliche Geräumigkeit, die zusammen mit der liebevollen Einrichtung und der sehr guten Ausstattung für Komfort und Wohlgefühl sorgen. Penedo Vacation September 2019

We have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in Penedo. Our holiday villa was clean, comfortable, well appointed and just as described on the website. We were met on arrival and given a guided tour of the property which was useful. The streets in Penedo are narrow throughout, steep in places with numerous tight corners requiring care to negotiate. We hired a medium sized estate car - think Focus, Golf, Astra or similar- and this was probably ideal for the size of the roads. Street parking is limited near the villa (and could result in damage from vehicles trying to get through) but we found that reversing into the driveway was by far the best option. Once out on the open road, we enjoyed visits to Sintra, Ericeira, Estoril , Cascais and Cabo De Roca, whilst a trip to Lisbon was made using the train and parking the car at Sintra Portela station. Overall, we were very pleased with this villa which we highly recommend for a family holiday Howard and Mandy Cross

Feels like home

As soon as you walk in, you can tell that this house has been looked after. Great decor and you have all of the amenities that you need. The lady that took us around the house, Amalia, was very friendly and helpful. The owner Julieta is also a pleasure to deal with. We will be back !

Een mooi en gezellig verblijf, met een fantastisch uitzicht

Het was een heel aangenaam verblijf! Een mooie en goed verzorgde woning, met ruime kamers en goed onderhouden zwembad. Dit met een fantastisch zicht op zee en elke avond een unieke zonsondergang van op de verschillende terrassen! De ontvangst van de lokale Amelia was evenals heel warm, ook al was ons Portugees of Amilia's Engels niet zo goed, we begrepen elkaar voldoende en voelden ons direct thuis. Ook Amilia's attenties tijdens het verblijf werden heel erg geapprecieerd door ons! Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar!!

Lovely property in hill top location

The property is extremely well appointed internally and has all you need for a relaxing stay. We were out and about in the Portuguese countryside every day so had little time to enjoy the outside pool and patio. Situated in the small village of Penedo about 15 minutes by car from Sintra, the villa is in easy reach of Lisbon via the regular and extremely cheap train service. One tip on arrival would be to continue on the N247 beyond Colares and turn left for the village opposite the junction for Almoçageme, rather than following Google directions. These take you up an extremely steep, winding single track road with few passing places. We only tried it the once!

A very impressive villa

This villa is fully equipped with everything you could need. The décor is very tasteful and classic and the furniture and beds are very comfy. The huge TV with lots of channels was a plus with two teenagers in tow - it meant that whilst we were preparing a meal or getting ready for an evening out they were fully occupied. The garden and pool are well maintained. Corales was a few minutes drive away and had everything we needed by way of small restaurants and supermarkets. The coastline is fantastic with beautiful beaches and pools (10 minutes drive) - most with amazing restaurants. A car is a must - as is the 15 minute drive to Sintra. Lisbon is easily accessed,. if you park at Sintra station and take the train. Howard and Julieta, the owners, were really helpful and just a call away if we needed to ask anything - as was Amalia their caretaker.

Recently-built villa with period decoration located in the Sintra National Park with a view down the valley to the sea at Praia das Macas.
Large sitting room, seating up to 10 people, leads out to a private swimming pool and garden with sea and valley views.
Adjacent dining room seats 12 with easy next to a fully-fitted kitchen and cloakroom.
Penedo is a quiet area so is ideal for a peaceful holiday but within easy distance of local facilities such as restaurants, beaches and shops.
