Notre séjour a été décevant par rapport aux attentes créées par l’annonce.•Les photos semblent dater de plusieurs années et ne reflètent pas fidèlement l’état actuel du logement.•Le linge de maison était de qualité moyenne (couette tachée, draps usés).•La salle de bain mériterait un meilleur entretien (joints et rideau de douche avec traces d’humidité).•Connexion internet très instable.•Vaisselle limitée et couverts fragiles.La piscine, quant à elle, ne semblait pas correctement entretenue et dégageait une odeur désagréable dès la première utilisation, ce qui ne nous a pas permis d’en profiter.Le rapport qualité/prix nous a semblé insuffisant au regard du tarif pratiqué.Un rafraîchissement général, un meilleur suivi de l’entretien et une mise à jour des équipements permettraient de rendre cette location plus conforme à ce qu’attendent les voyageurs.

Rustic charm in abundance

Sei in the Dordogne countryside this idyllic domaine comprises 3 equally sized beautifully renovated houses to rent plus the owner's own dwelling. There are a variety of outbuildings to add to the rustic charm. Located near to all the holiday lets is a shared pool. Lovely setting to pass time. Wi-Fi is not the fastest but only an issue if your teenager wants to play games on the internet . The owners have installed internet in the pool area. The grounds are quite extensive and you can also play table tennis in the main courtyard. Bats and balls are provided. We were warmly welcomed to the Domaine by Sebastian the owners son, who was around most of the time if we had any issues. Definitely need a car to get around as there are no shops locally. Nearest location for food is Le Bugue.Spent a lovely afternoon canoeing down the dordogne. Highly recommend Coloure canoes near Beynac. Also highly recommend a visit to the troglodyte settlement of Madeleine, just outside les Eyzies, the water gardens at Carsac and the lovely village of St Léon sue Vézère. Take a picnic to the viewpoint at Tremolat but take a table and chairs. The castle at Beynac is a must as is the chateau des Milandes. Overall we had a lovely stay. Plenty to see and do. Take mosquito repellent, you might need it!

A bit more shabby than shabby chic for me

Lovely building in a beautiful location, but now a bit neglected, not maintained up to date and a bit sad. We were warmly welcomed and shown around the property. While household cleanliness was good - the unit had old rusty appliances throughout - fridge, radiator, washing machine & the kitchen bin was gross. No supplies left like broom/vacuum or even basic cleaning materials/bin bags etc. Outside area has two lovely areas to sit and eat, one shaded by wisteria and another with table umbrella but could have done with maintenance like weeding and sweeping of dead leaves. Gas barbecue had no gas and wasn’t left clean - so didn't use it. The tiny kitchen area was not in keeping with the rest of the house, which is finished to a high standard. Satellite, unsecured Wi-Fi was rubbish - consistently unable to get on line even on sunny days - know this isn't the owners problem as such - but important people know its unrealiable- esp. if they may think they can work from here. We enjoyed our stay at The Domaine however, for me, I would not return or recommend to friends unless these issues were addressed and remedied . We wish the owners every success in their future.

Bel emplacement, propriétaires sur place et très accessibles. Équipements de qualité (parasols, barbecue weber, lits enfants, douches et baignoire). Seul le débit wifi est à améliorer (si c’est possible).

Wonderful Stay in the Dordogne

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5-night stay in this beautiful French cottage in the Dordogne region! The home/grounds/pool are just beautiful and the owners, who live on property, were the kindest people. This was our home base for our time exploring the Dordogne. It was perfect! It’s very remote, but a town with grocery stores was only 10-15 minutes away. There are some great little towns nearby with great restaurants (beware you must make reservations in advance!)(Chez Julien is a must do and it’s only 7 min from the cottage). The owners invited us for a glass of wine after we arrived and they were just wonderful, offering lots of recommendations. The pool was beautiful and was great to relax in after a full day touring the region. The cottage was huge and really cool. It was warm when we were there and they lent us a fan to use for the week. Overall, we highly recommend this beautiful property!!

Heerlijke accomodatie. Ruime woningen. Wij waren met z'n tweeen in een 6 persoons huisje. Ruime parkeergelegenheid aanwezig. Eigenaren zijn Nederlands. Heel vriendelijk en gezellig. Gewoon schatten van mensen. In de directe omgeving is ook veel te zien. Zwembad is ruim voldoende. Voor je dagelijke boodschappen kun je 10 km verder terecht. Wil je zelf koken ipv uit eten gaan. Maar onze voorkeur ging uit vanuit eten gaan. Diverse goede restaurants in de omgeving. Aanrader chez Julien. Voor de dichtsbijzijnde bakkers 4 km rijden.

Perfect stay in the Dordogne

We had a great stay in Koos and Elly's lovely country house who were both very welcoming hosts! The house was clean and spacious with 3 generous double rooms - ideal base of a family. Only wish we had come in summer to take advantage of the pool and summer evening BBQs!

Magnifique séjour

Attention lieu magique...un hameau de pierres rénové par un architecte passionné dont le fils d’une extrême gentillesse vous conseillera pour vos ballades tout en amusant vos enfants (notre fille de 5 ans a passé son «  permis tracteur »...et les plus belles vacances de sa vie entre piscine, trampoline et visites). Les 3 maisons sont indépendantes et bien équipées. Idéal pour un séjour en famille y compris avec des enfants petits qui sont très autonomes dans un domaine éloigné de la route (et avec une grande piscine sécurisée) ou avec des amis (nous avions réservé 2 maisons avec des amis, chacun ayant accueilli de son côté familles et autres amis). Très bel emplacement à proximité de nombreux sites du Périgord Noir (Beynac, Castelnau, Cadouin, Marqueyssac...) Endroit et propriétaires à connaître.

Highly popular with holidaymakers they are fully booked each year.

After selling their business in Holland, Koos and Elly Van Hooven bought a camping car to travel France looking for their forever home. The interior architect and entrepreneur explains: “ we needed a complete sea-change else business would continue to dominate our lives. We found the Perigord Noir, decided it was perfect for us and started looking for a secluded property with perhaps a simple renovation - a bathroom or library – but then we found Domaine de Pradelle!”

Not far from the ancient village of Ste Alvère, famed for its truffle markets, Domaine de Pradelle is set above the valley and river – it charms from the instant you arrive. Built of glorious golden stone with Perigordine style roofs, the Chartreuse was built in the early 18th century. Symmetrical in style it looks over a courtyard with ancient chestnut trees. Now restored immaculately, light floods every room – each boasting its own fireplace – glorious living rooms are set garden-side, the luxurious master suite, another lounge and further rooms at road level.

Today the Domaine includes three highly enviable luxury gîtes set close to the glorious swimming pool carved out of rock! The first year they finished their home in the Castle in time for their family to come for Christmas (in true renovation style they'd lived on site in a caravan), however their gîtes Lavande, Glycines and Les Rosiers, each with three romantic bedrooms and wonderful living spaces, took far longer to create from semi-derelict buildings and cowsheds!

Attention to detail is keynote throughout – from retaining architectural features to energy-efficient solutions all bound with modern comfort – this restoration is simply superb!

But it is the perfection and charm of Domaine de Pradelle which inspire you to stay during your holiday in this glorious place.

Perigord Noir (Black Perigord) is the most visited region of the Dordogne, and includes many of the sights that you will already have heard of.
This part of the Perigord is the richest in terms of beautiful villages, magnificent castles, pre-historic cave paintings and caves rich in stalactites and stalagmites. It really is a wonderful area and well worth visiting.

The Perigord Noir is the most popular part of the Perigord area.
