We vacationed at many North Carolina beaches before settling on Bald Head Island. At other beaches, we found ourselves spending half our time in hot cars heading to the store or restaurants along crowded roadways. At Bald Head, riding in the golf carts along quiet streets shared by bicycles and rollerbladers is half the fun.

We selected the location for our cottage, 'Second Wind,' because of the incredible ocean views and the privacy of our oversized lot. We have views looking down Water Thrush Court to the ocean, yet because we are on a quiet cul-de-sac, there is virtually no road noise.

The proximity to the BHI Club is a huge plus—we often walk there for the pool, golf, the athletic center, or dinner. We especially love grabbing take-out from Horizons to eat on our screened-in porch or at the indoor dining table while watching the ships go by or the sun go down.

Our long, deep porches are the best feature of the house! We specifically built Second Wind for family gatherings; the layout is designed so that two families can enjoy the island together, featuring two master suites each with a king bed and private bath. We’ve spent many wonderful long weekends here with friends and family, and we hope you do the same.
