After visiting several cities we knew we wanted some time in the country. So glad we picked this place. You definitely need a car but so very worth it.
Pros: Our plane into Bari was late but Matino's wife stayed to welcome us at 8:30 p.m. (long after we were expected.). When we arrived all the tables were loaded with goodies and snacks and the refrigerator was also full of supplies (fresh fruit, juices, milk). So appreciated, especially the wine and warm fococcia bread which we ate for dinner.
The next morning we woke up in the most lovely space. The outdoor patios. (there are three of them) are surrounded by flowers and plants. Beyond the walls are olive and fruit tree gardens. Lovely shaded tables and seating areas are everywhere. A VERY special place to wake up every morning.
There are two rooms and because my husband had a cold he slept in the kids room (with twin beds) and not the master bedroom. There is good A/C if needed, a great shower and a great washer. A nice driveway away from the road that is very secure for your car.
Martino's wife left us two big bowls of fresh cheeries that were just picked in the surrounding orchard and on one evening she also brought us the parmesan-eggplant dish that is very popular in the area. A real treat. Meanwhile Martino checked in on us everyday on Whatsapp in case we needed anything.
The location is great for driving and visiting all the local little towns and even the beach.
Now for the cons:
While there, the internet is went out several times. Sometimes it worked fine--other times??? (yes you are in the country!). But for remote workers it can be problematic. And the area is amazingly quiet--it isn't when the dogs start barking next door. They did it A LOT. That is especially annoying early in the morning when you are trying to sleep. Last, cooking on the propane stove to heat water for tea was very awkward. (no hotpot.).
Would I recommend the place? Yes. It is a very special place and lovingly maintained. And while you can't control neighbors dogs or the internet, it would be nice if they added a hot pot for future guests.
