One of the barns had already been converted in the 1970s and whilst it needed updating, it was habitable. We were able to move into the barn and concentrate on restoring the original farmhouse to create the gite.
There is a lot to do in the area and this attracted us to the property. The large, famous chateaux of the Loire are less than an hours drive away. But we prefer the smaller chateaux which are closer to us, such as Montresor and Valencay which are about 10-15 minutes drive away. There is also a steam train based in the village, and Beauval ZooParc is just a short drive away. The Brenne National Park is south of us and the bird watching is superb. The village is very well serviced with two boulangeries, a butcher, small supermarket, cash point, petrol station, pharmacy and a few restaurants.
