For 48 years, we have not missed a Thanksgiving week at Sea Ranch. Some houses have been great, and a few not so great. This house, the Double R, has an outstanding location and ocean view. The house itself needs a little care and updating to match the premium rental charge. The kitchen counter grout, especially around the sink, is in poor condition. The cook ware was an odd collection, only a small 8x10 cutting board, frying pans in terrible shape, and The dullest knives ever (from experience, I always bring my own just in case).
Upon arriving at the house and turning on the heat, we smelled an unpleasant odor. Called Vacasa and their maintenance man, Herb, said the living room had flooded in the last heavy rain storm and when we looked down into the floor heat vents we could see standing water. The hot air over this funky water and the residual moisture in the flooring was probably the source of the smell. I worry about the exposure to toxic mold. The odor did go away after 5,6 days.
In this day and age, I was surprised how inefficient the toilets were. Poor flushing and wasting large amounts of water.
In spite of the negatives, it was great waking up to those gorgeous sun rises and later watching spectacular sunsets.
