Thurlibeer Cottage

Thurlibeer Cottage has great views and is close to the north Atlantic coast and beaches. You’ll love my place because of the high ceilings, the views, and the location. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).

Just 4 miles from Bude's beaches and its many traditional seaside attractions, this spacious and unusual, colonial-style holiday property has its own garden and commands wonderful views across countryside to Widemouth Bay and the sea.

Great stay at Thurlibeer Cottage

The Cottage is spacious and comfortable with everything you could need. We have family in Tetcott but love Bude and this was in between both so a perfect location. We will definitely be staying here again.

This was a return visit for us, and once again we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage offers lovely, spacious accommodation, with a huge, well-equipped kitchen, a great-sized master bedroom and twin room, plus a smaller sitting room which can double as an additional bedroom. The dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer were especially welcome this time as we were travelling with a baby! The furniture is very comfortable, and evenings spent in the conservatory/sitting room were lovely, with wonderful views across Widemouth Bay.The extensive garden also gives fabulous views across the bay, and the picnic bench and garden seating would have been great to use if we’d had warmer evenings. The only downside was that the garden was a little unkempt, and some weeding around the edge of the cottage would have made it look much nicer. There’s convenient on-site parking, although it can be tight when the neighbouring house is also full. Chris, the host, is very friendly and made a point of coming to speak to us on arrival and before we left. The only thing preventing a full five stars was finding quite a few dead flies behind the TV, some dead bugs hanging from the blinds and a shrivelled balloon behind the sofa. These were minor points and certainly wouldn’t stop us returning again. It’s a lovely, comfortable cottage in a fantastic location, and the accommodation would take a lot of beating!

Very nice cottage.

Very nice cottage, spotlessly clean, although furniture needs attention and updating, sofa and chairs have seen better days, Well stocked kitchen all the appliances you could need. I would like to thank Chris for supplying sheets and blankets, anywhere else we've stayed have had to take our own I would say very good value for money.

The property is in a good location just outside Bude & has great views across to the sea. It has plenty of easy parking & was very convenient for the wedding at Launcells that we were attending.Communication with & information from the host had been good with a prompt response. However, we had booked the property for 5 adults & it was disappointing that the sofa bed for the fifth person had not been made up ready for our arrival. Unfortunately it was very cold, wet & windy that weekend & the property felt cold & rather damp, with no heating except from a couple of portable radiators. It also didn't help that one of the kitchen windows would not shut properly & there was a howling wind coming through during our stay.We also had problems with hot water for the shower, which although electric, appeared to need the immersion to be on too?To summarise, this property is in a lovely position, spacious & generally well equipped, just looking rather tired & in need of a bit of TLC!

Unfortunately these guests didn’t find the bedding for the sofa bed in the second lounge. All the bedding, made up, and towels are stored in the cupboard in the same room, on hand for when the sofa bed is used at night. We don’t set the sofa bed up with bedding as most guests prefer to use the room as a small lounge during the day. We are on site so encourage guests to ask or text if they can’t find something as we much prefer to assist them straight away so it can be swiftly resolved, as we could have very easily in this case. The oil Rayburn required a new pump at the time these guests stayed, which has since been fitted. We told them about this and provided 3 electric radiators so that they could keep warm with those instead. Instructions for the immersion heater are given to all guests. The windows in the kitchen all close ok so I’m not sure about that one. Many thanks for reading, Chris

Holiday

Lovely location but the garden needs to be fence in for dogs and kids because it’s so close to a main road. The house needs a good clean and lots of decorating and some new furniture.all so the kitchen needs a good going through.you could here the people in the house next door and there dogs barking all the time

The communication with the owner could have been better. Nontheless, when we had a problem with the shower, he acted at once and the same say the problemmhad been solved. The cottage was very nice, much larger then expected from the pictures. It was comfortable and had a great view. Our dog was happy in the enclosed garden. All in all a very recommendable place. Close to the sea, good parking.

Needs improvement

A bit disappointed. No arrival instructions or information. The heating and hot water is still a mystery! Yes the view was wonderful but you had to stand in the garden bench to see it becaythe hedge was so high. Right on a busy road too.

Excellent stay. The view alone from the living room was worth the trip watching the every changing light pattern as the sun chased the clouds in off the Atlantic across the north Cornwall fields, and being out of the every present wind The property itself was perfect for our needs and the hosts were great.

Quirky property requiring a substantial update

Fantastic view. But sadly the sleeping experience was terrible. Poor old mattress giving little or no support, a good quality mattress is fundamental to a good overall experience. The whole idea of going away for me is to rest and relax sadly we did neither. Generally the only thing we need in a property is a nice comfy bed. We spend most of our days away walking and eating out. So sadly we won't be staying again.
