This very spacious custom home is set up for maximum enjoyment and interaction for you and your guests. You will be impressed by the open floor plan, yet private areas, quality of property, and ocean views from this private ocean front home. Enjoy a MEMORABLE FAMILY/FRIENDS vacation experience in this spacious Mexican-style 3 BEDROOM 3 BATH home with 3 large ocean-view patios, and large grassy lawn for lounging and relaxing.
1) SUNSET AND SEA LANI, located on the ocean side of the home, with a beautiful view looking over the expansive grassy lawn, and out to sea with sightings of spouting whales, playful dolphin and sea lions ...along with coastline, whitewater view looking north to calafia. The coastline is especially beautiful at night.
2)WHALE WATCH LANDING, located halfway down the steps ,nestled into the slope just above the beach giving you perfect views of the surfers, swimmers and beach walkers, without getting your toes wet..
3)SUNRISE GARDEN ROOM, located on the garden side of the home with views of the exotic and rare plants and a place to find quiet and serenity after a day in the sun and surf, or for morning coffee.

MASTER BEDROOM has king bed and private bath, with view of the ocean right from bed...
2ND BEDROOM has queen bed, and private bath with optional private entrance to garden patio
THIRD BEDROOM (Dolphin Room) has queen bed and private bath and private entrance.

Walk down our private steps to a wonderful semi private beach... walking, surfing (great break in front of home), panoramic ocean and sunset views from all 3 patios, especially the new beachfront 'Whale Watch Landing' which is located nestled into the slope just above the surfline. You may also enjoy the migrating whales & dolphins from your master bedroom and living room. We have a delightful new venue for socializing and Bar-B-Qing, the Garden Room. It is a large Room, located in the garden, under roof, with 3 sides open and lovely columns, offering fantastic views of the landscape as well as ocean and sunset. A great retreat to cook and socialize and to get out of the sun and ocean breeze.

Eventually we wanted in our stay

What a very nice place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean. From my morning bible readings, drinking coffee, sitting outside and listening to the waves come crashing in, to just relaxing after a day of sightseeing, good food and more amazing views, relaxing and watching the sunset. We found the right house.

Paradise!

If you are looking for a beautifully relaxing, peaceful, on-the-ocean rustic getaway...this is it. Very quiet area, easy to get to, and close to wonderful restaurants: Surf, La Fonda, Puerto Nuevo, Ensenada, and the fabulous Valle de Guadalupe vineyards ( MUST go to El Cielo!) or just sit out and listen to the waves and watch the sunsets....definitly a 5 star experience.

Perfect Getaway

The location was just as described on the profile. The instructions to arrive were very precise. The location was clean and the owner was very accessible. She text me after I arrived to make sure the home was in good condition as expected and if there was anything that was needed to please let her know. We would love to return to this property!

Beautiful Oceanfront House

The house was wonderful! Great location in front of the ocean. The house is large, well equipped and meticulously decorated. Very quiet and peaceful area. The security is excellent. We enjoyed the large fireplace in the living room. It was terrific hearing the waves all night. Mary was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Sandcastle. We will definitely be back again.

Wonderful and Relaxing

Great property in a nice and secure community. The house was super cute and bigger than I thought. We enjoyed sitting outside looking at the ocean and enjoying the sunset and the beautiful weather. It was quiet and peaceful. The community is close to shops and restaurants about a five minute drive away and 10 minutes to Puerto Nuevo for lobsters. Great time spent relaxing. Thank you, Mary for your quick responses and your accommodations.

Best place we've ever stayed

This is a huge, gorgeous property. You will love it from the moment to step through the gate into the beautiful courtyard. The bedrooms are very large and comfortable and the house has so many different areas to sit in, I had to try them all. We could hear the waves from every room and the outside seating areas were very comfortable, quiet and relaxing. The very private third bedroom (Dolphin Room) was perfect for our newly-engaged couple. Great location for wonderful restaurants nearby and for visiting the wine country. We hated to leave and will definitely be back again. Thank you, Mary.

An absolute gem!!

This house is extraordinary! Upon entry, the garden is peaceful and inviting. The house is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The whale watch perch is the place to be for cocktails or cervezas at sunset, and the sound of the ocean is relaxing, whether outside the house or inside. The host is attentive, and stays in touch from the time of booking thru the end of your stay. We will absolutely be coming back. Can't wait!!

Perfect ocean getaway

Beautiful custom home directly overlooking the ocean! Mary the host was incredibly helpful and generously permitted my two well behaved german shepherd dogs. The entire family enjoyed relaxing in the backyard, collecting shells along the beach during low tide, cooking a family dinner, and setting a fire during a cooler evening while watching a movie. Excellent seafood restaurant 5 minutes away called Splash. Guard gated community with very active security patrols both day a night.Truly a wonderful break.This was our first VRBO experience and will not be our last. Thank you Mary for the opportunity for my family to enjoy a piece of your heaven.

Great Escape

Had an amazing time at Mary's ocean front villa. Safe, secure and beautiful. Was able to still keep up with work through the free wifi while being totally disconnected from it all. House is aweome. Open floor plan with 3 seperate bedrooms and baths. Easy to travel to Rosarito and Ensenada for day excursions. Highly recommend visiting wine country in the Valle de Guadalupe as well. Amazing wine and maybe the best meal we've ever had at Tierra de Corazon. Absolutely loved our trip and the villa was at the heart of it all. We hope to be back soon! Thanks Mary!

Gorgeous Getaway

Very comforting to know that its in a gated community. The guards were very kind & welcoming. And once inside the community it was awesome to see all the beautiful homes(and those being worked on). So needless to say, it was LOVE at first sight when we laid our eyes upon this home! The decor inside & out was Perfect!! Reminded me of my Grandparents home in Mexico. Very comforting. I love that each room had its own bathroom! The kitchen has everything you need to cook. Although, we couldn't find a cookie sheet so we bought one for the next guests to use. And the view from the home is Beautiful! We loved sitting outside just looing out to tje water watching the dolphins swim by. And it literally felt like we had the beach to ourselves considering that nobody else but us were out there fishing. Could also be since it was way colder than we expected. BUT it didnt stop us from getting out there & catching fish. Looking forward to going back & staying longer next time. We felt like we were at home.

House disappoints, but the ocean never does

A strong odor of mold hit us when we first walked in. It took us a few hours to realize it was coming from the dishwasher. Mary, our host, was very quick to send someone over and clean it out, and while we were never able to use the dishwasher, Mary was very apologetic and accommodating. Still, two people in our party developed reactive airways that would bother them for the entire 4 days we were there. The non-master beds were not queens, they were full-size. But they were comfortable. The master has good views, but note that it does not have any privacy, since it has open (curtained) archways to the home's interior common areas and kitchen. That makes for tough sleeping. All in all, the host was kind and flexible with checkout, the home sub-par, and the ocean-front views the real highlight that brightened our spirits. Couple other notes: few decent restaurants a short drive (not walkable) 5 min south. Beach is cobblestone except at fully drained tide. The surf break looks like it would be fun and private on a W or S swell, but unfortunately was flat while we were there.

In regard to the dishwasher. .. So many of my vacation renters enjoy the plentiful and excellent restaurants within a 10 minute drive of my home and do not do much cooking, therefore rarely use the dishwasher. Once Ashwin notified me of the dishwasher issue I had my maid over there within minutes totally sanitizing the entire dishwasher. Regarding the beds. .. It is truly a king size bed in the master and queen size beds in the other two bedrooms. Regarding privacy... My pictures posted on VRBO are accurate and depict the open floor plan, along with the ocean views from every room. The master has curtains for privacy but they are not soundproof. Regarding the beach... Mother ocean is in complete control daily and She alone decides when to deposit cobblestones and when she deposits sand. High and low tides change daily and so does the configuration of the beach. This is at the discretion of mother ocean. Regarding ashwin's definition of my home being "sub par".. I have managed to keep a four to five star rating with VRBO for the last 10 years I have been hosting vacation renters. That rating along with over a hundred good reviews should contradict his "sub par" opinion. In spite of the criticism I still chose to give Ashwin and his group an early check-in and a late checkout and I gave him a five-star guest review with VRBO

Our Family Loved It!

Our family...6 adults, 8 children ages 4 to 13, & 2 dogs...just spent an awesome week at Sandcastle in Cantamar. The location was perfect for us. A bit south of Rosarito it is out of the hustle & bustle of the tourists but close enough if we wanted to 'go to town'. In a gated community we never once felt unsafe. It was quiet, secure and just plain relaxing. The house and grounds were perfect. Enough space for everybody to hang out, run around, lay back, be together or far apart. The house has generous sized rooms and beautiful views. The steps down to the beach are easy....not like some of the places we have stayed. We will certainly stay here again. Mary & Gary are welcoming hosts and very helpful if you have questions....or even if you don't. We have been to Baja enough that we don't do much of the "tourist" stuff anymore but the "tourist" stuff is close and accessible. The beach is the big draw for all the grandkids. The boggie boarding is great right in front of the house.....and they loved the hot tub! We had Mimi (recommended by the Winnings) come and fix us some meals while we were there. Excellent food. She buys, cooks, serves & cleans up for a very reasonable price. One dinner for 14 cost $70.00...wonderful fresh Talapia fish, with cheese quesadillas, home made re-fried beans, fresh salsa, fresh quacamole & rice....and she leaves any leftovers for snacking! We would not hesitate to recommend Sandcastle and the Winnings to anybody looking for a gorgeous time-out spot.

we allways wanted to have a home on the beach in southern calif, but the prices just allways seemed just out of reach. In late 80s/early 90s we had been comming down to the baja for vacation often. Our home in san clemente is 2 hrs north, so we decided to create our beach front dream home 45 minutes south of the border.
