Alles was fijn aan het appartement: de ligging, de ruime slaapkamers, de zonnige serre en het grote dakterras met ochtend- en avondzon. Zelfs het feit dat de vaatwasser kapot was kon de pret niet drukken.

Disappointed in Syracuse Property #8661215 and Owner

The apartment is described as being for five people and having a "magnificent well equipped kitchen". The kitchen, at the top of a long staircase, is strung along a narrow corridor with seating for only 2 people. Although there were four chairs, there was absolutely no space for four people to sit at the table for any meal. With 2 double bedrooms and a "magnificent" kitchen the owner wishes to convey a sense of space which this apartment does not have. The only seating inside the apartment where four people could be together was in one of the bedrooms. There is a roof terrace which would be lovely, but we arrived in pouring rain and high winds so it was not an option. When we told the owners it was a problem, they responded that they were not responsible for the weather. The island of Ortigia is an old town with limited automobile access so I asked the owner about parking arrangements and was told that you could not drive into Ortigia and that you must park at a pay lot at least 1/2 a kilometer from the apartment and carry your baggage. Subsequently I found out that you can drive into the town and that there is some parking available nearby, free of charge. W e were advised that someone would meet us with the key. We called ahead of our arrival to set the time for meeting the owners representative. We arrived in very bad weather to find no one at the apartment after walking 15 minutes in the rain from where the owner told us to park. We were forced to stand outside and wait 10 minutes before anyone came to let us in. The person who met us did not speak English and could not give us any information about the town, sights to see or places to eat. There were no maps or anything to welcome us and provide some information. We did not stay in the apartment because it was so inconvenient and not suitable for four people. We had no choice but to go to a nearby hotel instead, unloaded our luggage in front of the hotel and park nearby in free parking. The owner has refused to compensate us in any way or recognize the difficulties we faced with bad weather and no space for four people to eat or relax except the bedrooms.
