My parents, both growing up in the country, lived in the suburbs for many years while they raised 3 kids. They really wanted a place in the country where they could eventually retire and decided that East Texas was the perfect place for them.
This is where they built their dream home, raised cattle, had the big garden they always wanted and enjoyed the country life while having family and friends visit, relax and enjoy some good home-cooking.
Eventually they built another house on the property for my grandparents and moved them from Tennessee to Texas.
Years go by, family members have passed on, the chores take a little more time to do, but there's something about waking up every morning and looking out over the pasture, the smell of fresh mowed hay, and just enjoying the peace and serenity.
