Well what can we say? From the minute we landed in St Lucia, Greg was the poster child of what it takes to be a GREAT host (plus bringing
him down the long nib licorice - red or black - he loves so dearly,
will instantly make you fast friends;)!
Our airport transfer went great; Greg was full of wonderful stories
and quick to point out many of the local scenery and attractions along
the way. Not to mention a quick stop at Ideal Bakery, a must for any
pastry lover! We highly recommend the sticky buns and the turnovers!
Upon arriving at Sun West, we were immediately transfixed by the
gorgeous landscaping. From the incredibly inviting infinity pool, to
the ocean view, and all the breath taking tropical flowers surrounding
the premise (not to mention the abundance of fruit trees - mango,
plum, banana)
Our one bedroom villa, was just perfect for two. Very spacious,
clean, bright and a killer view of the ocean as well as the marina.
Being a hop, skip and a jump from the pool was also a major plus.
Whether we were lounging on our patio or walking around the area, we were always completely at ease.
If you are looking for a place to stay with all the amenities of home
(full kitchen, A/C, WiFi, Cable, House Keeping, Alarm System, Cell
Phone) as well as a fantastic host, Sun West is for you!
On our first morning, Greg took us on a very thorough tour of the
North part of the Island. Showing us local hot spots, such as Pigeon
Island (a must see), Smuggler's Cove (gorgeous secluded beach) to some great local places to eat. We enjoyed the Lime, as well as the
Chinese - delicious food, large portions and unbeatable prices.
Grocery Shopping was a breeze in Rodney Bay, with THREE local grocery stores within walking distance (or with a quick ride by Greg in the van). They would rival any store at home for selection and quality,
we were very impressed.
We opted to do a full day tour with Greg which included the Piton's, a
Cocoa Plantation, Anse le Raye, drive in Volcano and the Sulphur
Springs. This was definitely a highlight of our stay. Though quite a
strong odor, the sulphur bath's were an absolute blast and such a
great way to finish off a perfect day of sight seeing.
Since we stayed the entire month of July we had the pleasure of seeing Carnival in Castries. From the costumes, to the dancing to the all around atmosphere of the event, we really had a great time.
We would highly recommend Sun West to anyone
