Mon Repos benefits from being right on a branch of the Charente river & with its mature gardens, magnificent weeping willow & double aspect veranda, you really do feel as if you're at one with nature, whilst at the same time, being in the heart of the historic village. Traversed by the Romans, at the old ford "gué de chambe", until they constructed the bridge, which remains to this day with picturesque views of the old moulin, visitors will feel as though they've stepped back in time. Mon Repos sits within the grounds of an ancient monastery, the original, drystone walled garden giving testament to this. Nowadays we have the modern church as our neighbour (remodeled 15th century!), the idea of which hadn't yet been conceived when the original part of our property was built, many moons ago. It was erected adjoining the side of our ancient dwelling & here they both still sit, centuries on, sharing our riverside paradise, & a very special alleyway...
