We could not be happier with our stay at Nido del Merlo.Patricia, Camilo and Maria were so welcoming and made our stay delightful. We also participated in one of there special meals, the food and atmosphere was the best on our 2 week trip.

What a wonderful time my cousins, sister and friends had at this VRBO in San Gimignano! Our hostess was outstanding! There was food and Italian delicacies awaiting us upon our arrival. The views were amazing. I can only hope that we can return there sometime in the future!

What an amazing place. Beautiful location surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. Breathtaking views. The house is very clean, everything we needed was there. The owners were very accommodating. They also offer cooking classes which we did and it was so much fun and 4 hours of cooking and eating and drinking wine and beer! We very much recommend this place!!

Amazing Tuscany Get Away

We stayed at this property for 4 nights in September. The family was gracious and inviting. Camillo took care of every request efficiently. The grounds around the home are amazing and the views breathtaking. We will definitely be back.

Amazing host family and view of San Gimignano

The real highlight of our stay at this wonderful farm villa was the host family. We have never experienced such care and happiness. Amazing view of San Himignano and excellent access for day trips in every direction including the Chianti Trail and Sienna.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house in Tuscany, with a stunning view over the hills and San Gimignano. The welcome was very warm, friendly, and thoughtful: we were even greeted with a welcome gift, delicious Tuscan pastries, and a dinner on our arrival. A small downside was the comfort of the bedrooms: the mattresses could probably be replaced, as we could feel the springs a little. Also, there was a small leak in one of the showers, and we had to wait to access another bathroom. Despite these details, Patrizia’s kindness and attentiveness made our stay truly enjoyable. This is definitely an address I would recommend. Many thanks to Patrizia!

Beautiful location and host

Aside from the house being wonderfully well equipped, Patrizia and her son Camilo were wonderfully helpful and kind. They are excellent hosts, attentive and gracious. They provided a number of delicious baked goods and some wine when we arrived that lasted our stay. Beyond thoughtful and we we very happy with the house. We even had them prepare a dinner at the adjoining house, which was excellent. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Tuscany Escape

This was our favorite vacation stay in a long time! The hospitality, views, and food is second to none! Your own private pool was incredible. The hosts are great communicators and easy to work with. We miss the location and want to go back very soon. Everyone in our family had an amazing time! Host recommended great spots including amazing Fontaleoni wines! The homemade food onsite is incredible, farm to table at its best! Thank you.

Way more than we expected!

The villa was fabulous! All of the little touches. All of the standard requirements. The welcome offerinfs. The departing gifts. Such a friendly family managing the place. Cental to multiple towns and restaurants. Youbare out in the country but onlyb10 minites from grocery stores and restaurants and cafes and bars and more.

Wonderful Spot

My family of 7 really enjoyed this villa. Camillo and his mother, Patricia run the villa. They are very kind and welcoming. We felt right at home immediately. When we arrived they had left us bread and salami and baked goods lots of little snacks! The pool was perfect for the hot August weather. The villa is very homey and comfortable. It's location is excellent. You can get to many places in under 30 minutes. We also booked one of Patricia's dinner menus. The food and the service was excellent. I would stay here again.

Tuscan Holiday

Camillo and his Mom were great hosts. We got lost finding the Villa and Camillo came to get us. Upon check-in there was bread , cheese , a few bottles of wine and Prosecco plus an array of baked good waiting for us. During the week they brought over fresh sauce and an appetizer. One evening they made dinner for us ( we paid for it) and it was amazing. Location was fantastic. The only down side was that there a lot of lantern flys and fruit flies upstairs in the bedrooms.. we killed a lot!

Fabulous stay!

Everything about our trip to this villa was amazing. The house is lovely and the views are amazing! Patricia and her son Camillo are wonderful. They cooked for us, along with her grandmother on 2 nights and it was spectacular! I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience. We will definitely return. A concierge service is offered and I highly recommend them as well. Luciano was our driver one day and he was great! He even met us for lunch the next day in San Gimignana and showed us around. Just a true Italian experience! I will recommend this villa to everyone!~

A great place to stay...does not get any nicer

Our stay here was just fabulous. The views from the villa windows of the countryside vineyards, olive groves and San Gimignano which was about 5 km away were breathtaking. This property is well kept, clean and just as beautiful as described in the ad. Ms. Patricia and son Camelio were generous, kind and the perfect hosts. We were greeted with pizza, bread, cheese and wine for a dinner on our arrival. There was an assortment of many dessert/candy treats and fruit in the living room which were thoroughly enjoyed. They also stopped by on several occasions during our 2 week stay to drop off wine or champagne along with a dinner supplement of homemade ravioli, lasagna, or homemade mozzarella cheese. All delicious! They also made the stay check out very easy and gave us a nice parting gift of biscotti and travel book.

Dream vacation in Tuscany

Everyone in our group loved the villa. The hostess Patrizia and her son met us at the house and were extremely gracious and generous from the first moment. We arrived late in the day and they had left us pizzas, cakes, pastries and chilled wine. We were so grateful. On the last night of our stay, Patrizia and her family prepared for us a remarkable feast of Italian specialties. Everything was delicious... the best food we had eaten in this region. They even baked a dessert to celebrate a birthday in our group. The weather was unseasonably warm during our stay and the host family left the pool open for us even though it would normally be closed in October. The location of the villa was only 15 minute drive from San Gimignano. We highly recommend this villa. Thank you!

A Fabulous Stay

There is no way to thank Patrizia and her family enough for the wonderful stay at Il nido del merlo. We were a 15 min drive from San Gemignano. Certaldo was very close with a train station. We had several wineries minutes away including Fantaleoni...Patrizias Family and Olive oil bar. We had very spacious rooms with air and ability to do laundry. This was important as we stayed 3 weeks in the heat of August. The pool is salt water and beautiful!! We were treated often to Patrizia and Marias cooking and baking. We requested 2 dinners ( paid) and they were both amazing. The energy and joy shown us on this vacation was beyond my expectations. If we had any questions or concerns they were quick to help us . I would go back in a heartbeat. Truly amazing hosts. It was hard to say goodbye!!

Overall good, but the beds were bad

Overall a good stay. The house is a bit quirky as its quite old but overall in good condition. It definitely needs to be renovated though to bring it up to date. Unfortunately the beds are super old box springs. The first night we go no sleep at all due to the first mattress we slept on being hard as a rock. The next night my wife and I tried a different bedroom and the mattress was so old the middle dipped completely and was super squeaky. We had to sleep with a pillow between us so we didn't roll into each other. The third and 4th night we just slept in different bedrooms so we could get a bit of sleep. Not ideal for vacation. Overall the family who lives there and manages the property were incredibly nice, the AC worked well and we generally had a good stay. We loved the pool. Oh, their dog barking at 4am wasn't ideal each night. But to end on a positive note the location and view is amazing. just 15 minutes from San Gimignano and with a killer view. I feel bad leaving this review, but I guess it is what it is.

Amazing!

09/23 - Perfect in almost every way possible. We stayed here for a week and wished as we were leaving that we had made it a two-week stay instead of heading to the Amalfi Coast. The family on the property was so accommodating to our every need. We had booked the first night to have the family host a dinner for us, what a treat that was. We had so much food that we had leftovers and a full meal the next day. It was such a treat we had them do it again for us later in the week! Now that we knew what to expect we thought it couldn’t be as good as the first time… We were wrong, it was better and again it made for two nights’ worth of meals! The house is as beautiful as advertised, the surroundings of the gardens are so well maintained as the “grandma” is out early every day working on the garden and yard. We had plenty of room for 6 of us to spread out and have space to spare. The treats provided by the host family were a wonderful surprise and incredible to eat as well. One in our group got sick w/ a severe cold and they provided freshly made chicken soup for lunch twice during the week at our request. Seriously, that is going above and beyond for your guest! The location overlooking San Gimignano in the distance was picturesque and worthy of a fine painting. The sunsets were more and more stunning as the week went on. We had no problem using this location as a base for our daily travels, when we wanted to leave the pool, to other towns nearby. Florence, Siena and

Beautiful home, amazing view, practical location, terrific hospitality

Thank you for your very warm welcome upon our arrival at Il Nido del Merlo. We were really appreciative of all the wonderful surprises that were waiting for us. The homemade cakes and pastries, the fresh fruits, the sausage and bottles of wine from your vineyard were delicious and a real treat! We found Il Nido del Merlo very cozy and comfortable and the view of the Tuscan countryside from the backyard is breathtaking! The beautiful gardens and swimming pool are a perfect setting for visitors. The landscaping was breathtaking, with a variety of plants, flowers, vegetables, and even some caged poultry (the rooster wakes up early - bring ear plugs if your hearing is sensitive and you like to sleep in). We particularly wish to thank Maria for the delicious gourmet meal that she prepared for our family dinner (extra of 50 euros per person, was totally worth it). The food was beautifully presented, the portions were generous and the home made wines were great. I want to especially thank her for the extra effort she put into preparing home made gluten-free pasta, bread and desserts for my mother and myself. We had a marvellous evening and you were great hostesses! Our stay in Tuscany was a lot of fun and we were able to take several day trips to Florence, Sienna and San Gimignano from your Il Nido del Merlo because it is a convenient location and close to many attractions. It will be our pleasure to recommend Il Nido del Merlo to family and friends.

Family Reunion

Property was hard to locate but once we arrived there welcome was warm and genuine. Extremely hospitable, generous and attentive with lovely hosts that really looked after and spoilt us. The food was amazing. We would all highly recommend this holiday.
