Spent a great five day getaway with our whole family, while attending a family wedding in nearby Waldoboro, at this lovely and very comfortable home situated on tranquil Pemaquid Lake. Slept all 7 of us easily. Owner, Brigitte, and her property manager, Sigrid, couldn't have been more gracious and cooperative. House has everything you'll need, including Wi Fi. There's a large modern gas grill and lovely outdoor patio set for eating, as well as a large kitchen and dining table inside. The house, itself, is located down a single lane dirt road, 4/10ths of a mile off the beaten path, but still just a few miles from the Hannaford grocery store and all the necessary amenities found in Damariscotta. It's an easy one hour drive up I-295 and Route 1 from the Portland Jetport. Don't miss stopping for the world famous lobster roll at Red's Eats in Wiscasset only about 20 minutes southwest of Damariscotta. Pemaquid Lake was crystal clear, although the water level was a little low, while we were there. Fishing off the beautiful dock was fun even though we didn't catch much in the shallower water. There were even a couple of fishing poles available to use in the storage shed. Bring aqua socks if you want to swim, as the lake bed is soft Home is equipped with a good sized canoe and a few life vests. You'll be located less than a half hour drive to the ocean. Nearby Pemaquid Point Park and Lighthouse, on the rocky Maine shore, is both historic as well as physically dramatic (wear sneakers or hiking boots-no sandals). Pemaquid Beach is not far away from Pemaquid Point. We liked the Point so much that we visited twice. We were blessed with 5 days of beautiful early Fall weather and the leaves were just starting to show some color. Saw no moose but did see some loons and bald eagles. All in all, it was a wonderful five day Maine vacation. We're very grateful to Brigitte for making her lovely family home available for us to share. Thank you, Brigitte.
