As you noted, they can feel steep and narrow. This is typical of the historic Latin Quarter, where buildings were constructed centuries ago, long before elevators existed, and space simply didn’t allow for them to be added later. Stairs were also narrow as the cost for building wider ones was very high and they used a lot of space. For many, this is part of the authentic Parisian experience, and they often feel that the view is well worth the climb—though we absolutely recognize it may not suit everyone. Hope to host you again! Regarding the stairs, we completely understand that this can feel demanding depending on each guest’s preferences. There is a handrail, and we, and the previous reviews, clearly inform about the stairs prior to booking. The apartment is located in the historic Latin Quarter, one of the oldest areas of Paris, where buildings were constructed centuries ago with narrow staircases and without space for elevators. We have been managing 5 apartments in this building for over 10 years, and guests have been using these stairs daily without any incidents reported. For many, this is part of the authentic Parisian experience, and they often feel that the view is well worth the climb—though we absolutely recognize it may not suit everyone. For information the stairs are around 200 years old, as the building. As for the noise, the Latin Quarter is indeed lively, especially on weekends. It’s part of what makes the area so vibrant and central. The apartment is equipped with soundproof windows and curtains, which help create a quieter and comfortable environment when closed. We understand that some guests prefer quieter areas. We also appreciate your comments regarding the pillows and cleanliness. The pillows have been replaced, and our cleaning team has been reminded to pay special attention to details such as under the bed to ensure everything is in perfect condition. Regarding cigarette smells, all our apartments are strictly non-smoking, and we air them thoroughly between each stay. While we cannot control the activity of nearby cafés or the street, this is not something most guests experience, but we understand your sensitivity to it. We’re sorry that the apartment did not fully match your expectations, but we truly appreciate your balanced perspective. As we manage several apartments in Paris, we would be delighted to welcome you again and help you find one that better fits your preferences, particularly in terms of access and environment.
