This place is amazing. It's beautiful and quaint. The lodge we stayed in had 3 bedrooms and a fold out sofa, 2 bathrooms, a gorgeous huge kitchen and lots of place to sit outside. Very comfy beds and extraordinarily fluffy towels. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to check out the pool or gym. There are lovely walks to go on around the property. We were a family group of 7, and this was perfect.
One slight issue was check in. The office closes at 5 pm and we arrived shortly after that. There was a notice on the office door about where to obtain the keys. They were in a coded safe around the corner, but we couldn't find the code. There was no answer at the phone number on the notice. We asked at the restaurant next door and the waitress gave us what other customers had told her the number is. It worked, and we got into our lodge easily.
The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of plates and pots and pans, and it's size and beauty actually made me want to cook. A suggestion for improvement would be to supply basic condiments such as cooking oil, ketchup, mayonnaise, some common spices. As tourists from outside the country having to buy even small packets of these that won't get used up is wasteful.
This property is fantastic is you are looking for tranquility. I would love to come back for a writing retreat. I knew it was 16 miles outside of Oban, but do consider that it is a 30-35 minute drive from Oban, some of it on single track roads. It was a challenge to get everyone out the door for an early tour from Oban. That said, there would be no comparable experience staying in Oban.
