Bruno & Sandra’s Raphaelle
Raphaelle is a lovely home which belongs to Bruno & Sandra. The directions provided brings you to a small hamlet called La Maison de Muguet. Just as you come into La Bachellerie take a right turn, takes you across the railway line. The road goes round to the right and then left, it is on the left with a small road up to the gates with Bruno’s vegetable garden with chickens on the right.
The pictures of the house don’t really do it justice. The gardens are large with lots of flowers and interesting spots to chill out. Our 2 dogs loved the grounds as they could nose away as the garden is surrounded with a fence. Theo did find a way out twice.
The house has 4 good size bedrooms with lots of wardrobe space. There are 2 toilets, a lovely bathroom all with beautiful views. The kitchen, dining and living room are open plan with large doors leading out to the patio and gardens. It is equipped with all that you need for your stay with Bruno & Sandra leaving some welcomed wine and homemade jam, this with fresh flowers from the gardens was a nice touch when you arrive.
We rented the property to enable us to rest and recuperate and the property provided this. There are good supermarkets nearby in Terrasson-Lavilledieu, Montignac and Thenon with all the shops you need in Brive-la-Gaillarde, with a large farmers market worth walking round and sampling the products.
As this was our 4th year visiting the area, we only went out a few times to enjoy the history, food and wine, the places we visited were beautiful medieval buildings with rivers running through the towns. Périgueux was lovely and we had a beautiful fine dining 3 course lunch in L'Epicurien. Well worth visiting. In the old town of Terrasson-Lavilledieu is well worth a visit, again some lovely restaurants. Montignac is also worth a visit and has a Vet across from a large Intermarche.
Bruno and Sandra, have a beautiful home. Many thanks to Bruno for providing us with home grown tomatoes and walnuts which were magnificent. We were blessed with sunshine for our two weeks stay, the pool was used every day. There is a fully equipped annex beside the pool where the washing machine is housed. This has without a doubt, been the best house we have stayed in. If you want relaxation and a modern home, close to amenities, then this is the place for you. We loved sitting outside in the evening talking, listening to music and watching the stars.
