The pictures on the listing really sell this place, and with a few simple improvements it could be a lovely holiday cottage. Unfortunately, we left feeling quite disappointed and didn’t have the relaxing break we had hoped for.Cleanliness was below expectations — pots and pans were grubby, and the property generally felt tired and in need of some care and attention. All of the beds were uncomfortable, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. During a heatwave there were no fans provided, which made the stay even more uncomfortable. There were also lots of small maintenance issues that added up over the course of the stay. The downstairs toilet seat was broken, and one of the armchairs in the living room felt unsafe with a leg nearly falling off. The key box was also broken, the guide book for the property was out of date, the dishwasher cutlery holder was full of holes making it difficult to stack properly, the pizza cutter nearly fell apart when used, and the kitchen knives desperately need sharpening. A new washing line would also be helpful.Recycling arrangements were inconvenient as there were no recycling bins at the property, meaning everything had to be taken by car to a local recycling point.Overall, the cottage could really benefit from a lick of paint and some general updating and maintenance. There is potential here, but right now the reality doesn’t quite match the impression given by the photos.
