We had a really good week here, with only a very few minor drawbacks. The locality is superb, with the beach only a couple of minutes walk (really!) down the hill. There is nothing that anyone can do about local amenities, as Sandsend is a very quiet, peaceful and picturesque 'village', with just a couple of hotels a shop and a few cafes - but, in a way, this is its charm. The cottage was extremely well equipped, and it was only that the beds were a little hard that put that aspect down from a '10'. other similar cottages nearby, run by the Mulgrave Estate, are more costly, but most are more recently built or refurbed, so the cost is ok for the locality. if one wants cheaper, one has to go away from this picturesque village. Our granddaughter loved the beach, its rockpools, flat sand (for safe bathing) and following the stream inland. We also enjoyed Runswick beach a little further up the coast.
We hope to go there again!
