This was just a fantastic choice and as you know there is always a certain fear that the villa won't be just like the pictures or the owner is hiding something. No need to worry on that count Panos and his fabulous family have got villa maintenance and hospitality down to a fine art. The villa has all you need for a great stay including air con, wifi, a great outside eating area plus BBQ and one of the freshest, well maintained swimming pools we have ever had the pleasure to swim in and every year we spend August in various villa's in different part's of Greece. Panos, Xristina, Kaiti & Tasos and their team all work tirelessly and invisibly to ensure that your stay is the best it can be. The villa is set in an Orange Grove, and looks out across acres of Orange groves below in the valley. Now the benefit of that (in addition to being able to walk around the orchard and pick sun warmed oranges (if you get the season right as we did) is,believe it or not, there are no mosquitos to speak of. A few nights I fell by the pool until gone midnight and not one bite!! Every morning you can wake to drink your coffee while marvelling at the spectacular view of various islands and the extinct volcano of Methana. So moving on to ancient epidavros itself - the small seaside town makes a ideal location for exploring other islands / sites within 90 minutes drive, we went to the island of Poros and Spetses - (missed out on Hydra due to the wifes bad planning) and also to Ancient Corinth, Corinthian canal and the beautiful ex-capita city of Nafplio. Not to mention snorkelling on the old "sunken city" and the mind blowing magnificence of the Ancient Epidavros Ampitheatre. also the center of healing and home of many Greek myths and legends. The town itself is quant and small but with butchers, bakers, great beach side tavernas and a pretty large supermarket just outside for weekly essentials. Also don't forget to check out the restaurant and the beach a short walk through the Orange groves below the villa - Greek feasting at its finest. We went on to the Pelion from Epidavros but could have easily stayed longer. Travel time around 2 hrs from Athens by hire car and pretty easy to find, in fact just two roads take you to the town and then you will be welcomed at meeting place (Orange stall) by one of the family who will escort you proudly to your holiday home. ( The fact that it was midnight when we arrived was absolutely no problem). Anyway before I run out of space - GO FOR IT
