Strange Owner Experience

Firstly, the home itself is beautiful but has a few things that are a bit off. A busted chair, broken drawer, unbalanced toilet, broken shower head, a "king" bed that is literally just two singles with separate sheets pushed next to each other, that sort of stuff. Secondly, the listing does not mention this, but you will be charged a *lot* extra for more than two people. Thirdly, the owner insisted on breaking our contract and getting a cleaning person into the house hours before we were scheduled to check out. Not a good experience and wouldn't do it again.

Wow! Really surprised by this review. Kurt stayed at Casa da Levada end of June. We were contacted a month or so before arrival, by Kurt, saying that he needed to have food supplements delivered to the house prior to his arrival, which with no hesitation we agreed on. No problem. So, on arrival, Kurt did already have 2 very heavy boxes in the kitchen. You're welcome, Kurt. We kept in contact during the whole stay. Surprisingly, we did not receive any complaints about broken chairs, broken head showers, etc. Not whatsoever. We love it when guests only complain about these issues after leaving. It was their choice not to inform us that there was something to be fixed. We usually have things fixed within hours. Apparently, Kurt didn't pay attention to Vrbo prices and didn't know that the base price is just for 2. Kurt's family was 4. So, he should have known that we do charge more when we have more than 2 guests. Simple. Not hiding anything. It's very public, very well explained on the ad. We're not in this business to fool anyone! On check-out day, Kurt was informed that the cleaning team would arrive a little earlier. Nobody asked Kurt to leave earlier than scheduled. We just informed them that they would start a couple hours ahead and they agreed!! More than 10 years in this business and we've never seen such an unfair review!

Amazing Vacation

We were three couples who travelled to Funchal on February 21st and stayed until February 26th. We spent five glorious days and nights at this property. We arrived at the villa around 5:00 p.m. and we were met by the property manager; Claudia. She is lovely, she gave us a complete tour of the property, set us up on wifi, and then took us to a local grocery store to stock up on some groceries. The house is amazing and as we entered the villa our breath was taken away. The views of the ocean are awesome, and the outdoor space is great for al fresco dining or just having a nice glass of wine after a full day of touring the island. It had 3 full bedrooms; each with an en-suite, and a fourth bedroom with a single bed. The dining room has a huge table with seating for 12 people. Although we didn’t use it, as the weather was great, one of the living room has a wood burning fireplace and some heaters were available in each bedroom and in the main living room for cooler weather. We were a 8-minute walk from the bus stop to central Funchal, 12-minute walk to the local stadium and a 10 – 12-minute walk from some excellent restaurants. Everything worked perfectly. If you are looking for an awesome villa with amazing views, we strongly recommend this villa. We were 6, but you could easily do 8 people.
