Simply said, we think there is no other property like it! We waited a long time to find the right place for us, and this 42 acre, historic farm has everything one could wish for.
Barrenjoey is set on a beautiful, quiet dirt road, but not too far off the beaten track, being only 3.5km from Birdwood; it has magnificent views from every aspect of the house and its surrounds, and it has sprawling gardens which we spend every spare moment maintaining and improving.
Native birdlife is abundant, from sulphur crested cockatoos and other parrots to kookaburras and to small, fragile finches, and our resident blue wrens are testament to how one can become quite mesmerised with bird watching! Frogs happily croak nearby in our ponds, and our resident mob of kangaroos are at home wherever they may be grazing on the property.
There are many varied areas of our farm to explore, from the acres of gardens to our untouched, native hill area, to our forest with 3 dams. Fragile ruins indicate her age. And our front verandah is perfect to just sit and listen, watch and enjoy. You will discover something new each time!
The house and cottage are roomy, with three large sleeping areas, all set a reasonable distance from each other, along with two bathrooms and toilets. Bunks for 3 are at the end of the main house. The kitchen is superbly equipped with every type of utensil and crockery/cutlery item you will need, plus many extras. The laundry is fully equipped with washing machine and dryer.
Our combustion heater keeps the house warm and cosy during winter, and all timber is cut, stacked and free of charge from our agro forest. During the summer months the house and cottage stay cool with two reverse cycle air conditioners.
An undercover area gives unparalleled views and is ideal for drinks, meals and small gatherings. A large gas BBQ is provided, along with ample seating for up to 20.
As one of our very early guests commented in an online review many years ago, "Barrenjoey Rocks!"
