House appeared clean upon arrival with nice views of lake.
Parking is minimal and dangerous, house sits directly on main road. Visited on Labor Day weekend and fixed dock was inaccessible for docking a boat, even though it’s on the main channel of the lake. (Douglas is a reservoir and levels can change, just stating in review to give reference point.)
I assume due to location, there is an extensive list of home rules that I wasn’t aware of until after I made the reservation or arrived at the home, for example thermostat is inaccessible to guest, any visitors must be pre-approved by owners (provide names and ages), no more than 2 bags of trash can be left on the property, you must take to a convenience center down the road if there is more (which is closed on Sundays and holidays, so plan ahead), pay a cleaning fee but leave the house as clean as was found upon arrival including sweeping floors, note: no dishwasher, no smoking on entire premises, not even outside 10+ feet from home, no shoes inside, there are more these just seemed to glare. (The listing has been updated to reflect some of these since our stay.)
I admit, I should have diligently read home rules and cancelled the reservation once I saw them and I have learned my lesson. I had my parents over for the afternoon without notifying property owners and unbeknownst to me, my Dad was seen smoking by the road, property management called and ordered my family to evacuate, told us the owners were extremely upset with us.
** Be aware there are security cameras surrounding the outside of the home.
Jokes totally on me for renting this property and therein agree to their terms. It was the most stressful vacation of my life, if we hadn’t paid so much to stay and rented a boat I would have left on the second night. I hope this saves someone else the trouble.
