Pros:
- We wanted privacy with a 30 minute drive to Carmel and that's exactly what we got. Very private, no neighbors in sight and no noise from anyone!
- Communication with the owner was excellent. They initially had the home listed as unavailable without a 6 night stay, and they lowered that threshold for us very kindly so we could stay for 4 nights. When we had issues with the home the response was immediate, polite, and satisfactory. They came out and helped us at the time requested and followed up.
- Well stocked home. My goodness, they had everything! Even scissors, tape, wine openers, all dishes we needed, robes, toiletries, ample TP and trash bags. Just very, very well stocked.
- comfortable beds. We slept SO well. We want that mattress for our home! Nice and firm, so there were no achy backs. Plus, the layout of the rooms was perfect for our group. One couple and kid stayed in the master cabin and one couple and kid had the downstairs of the main house to themselves.
Cons:
- The home was a bit more... rustic.. than we had been led to expect from the pictures and reviews. That's not to say it's not nice! And it was clean for the most part. But we had a LOT of spider issues. We killed well over a dozen in the home/cabin while we were there. We also found a lot of dead spiders, which means the pest control is working. But the main concern for us was that the master suite cabin had a whole wall of webs and egg sacs behind the headboard of the bed. Our group had to clean out that whole wall and kill about 7 spiders within the first 30 minutes of being there. After that they were more sporadic. And the owner very graciously came out the second morning and re-sprayed the perimeter, inside the cabin and main house. After that I feel like we had far fewer problems. But not none.
-The only other issue we had, really, is that the road to the home is quite difficult. Very narrow and bumpy and winding, and it feels like it goes on for a long time, so most of the 30 minute drive to Carmel feels like it's on that road. Steep hill to the driveway and not very much room to turn around once you're up. The directions to the place were very well laid out in the welcome email, and we didn't have any trouble locating the house. It was just, as I said, more rustic than we were expecting.
All of this being said, I think the house is lovely if you're looking for a natural setting with beautiful views and comfy beds.
