Very handy, to beaches, town. A good chance to enjoy the wedding and plenty of things to keep us busy over the weekend. The house has continuous sun when it is out. An outside shower for a wash down after the beach walks. The locals are very friendly.

Property was about 5 minutes drive from a beautiful beach. This was a night to chill out and rest up during a long exhausting holiday, so the house was perfect. Lots of food items in the pantry and some nice touches in the kids rooms.

Great place for a getaway

2nd time staying there. Great location even though you don't get a sea view as you get a nice private setting with views of farmland and the hills & mountains. Could do with a heatpump though for guests not staying there in the warmer months.

Short break

Nice modern and clean private and peaceful, main bedroom with ensuite at one end of house two more bedrooms at opposite end of house with a second bathroom perfect for a family or two couple's staying.

Beach Family Xams

Had a great stay with family over Christmas! Plenty of room for all of us. Only disappointment was the bathrooms, the main bathroom had not been cleaned properly and when having the first shower the bottom flooded as it was so blocked in the drain, we had to clean it out ourselves, the same was happening in the onsuot bathroom and sink. Really needs a detailed clean. We also brought everything to make pizza for my daughters birthday on xmas eve given there was a pizza oven advertised, when we arrived there we two old dirty fry pans in there, no pizza stone or paddle to even put a pizza in and out of there so not sure how one is meant to cook pizza in there, i wpuld remove that from the listing or provide the appropriate tools so it can be used, or just have a fire pit as that is all it is good for.Other than that it was a great stay, and we really enjpyed our xmas! Wpuld come back :)

Warm and beautiful

We've stayed in a variety of baches around Kakanui, and the Bach Retreat was definitely one of the best. Great location, and beautiful modern home with everything you need. We found it clean and tidy. The weather went from hot to cold quite quickly, but the woodburner and various heaters kept us warm and toasty. We really enjoyed our stay.

Loved our weekend

This house is really well resourced and superficially cleaned. Bedding and towels were clean but the house needs a deep clean. Fridge was unclean and found mould in glass in cupboard. Both showers need a good scrub. No rubbish bags, no fire lighters. Overall loved the house very contemporary.

Beach was amazing.

The deck was big. Beach was beautiful. We were missing a kitchen table and kitchen was lacking in equipment and what there was needed updating. First impression was impacted by loads of bird droppings and spiderwebs on entry.

One night stay in kakanui

We used this place as a late stop off and sleep over before hitting the road again. Should have stopped and parked up. Lovely spot, cool place, comfortable beds, etc. highly recommended

Amazing space

Property is spacious in a lovely large garden close to many attractions. Well equipped and lovely woodburner. Lovely walking at Herbert Hills and visiting the penguin colony was a delight.

Beautiful propert, great for families

Wish we had stayed longer! Made the best of our one night stay but can see how this property would be perfect for familes with kids. A beautifully thought out home away from the hustle and bustle. Short drive to Oamaru and breathtaking views of the veach right down the street!

Nice weekend getaway

Great place for a getaway with family or friends! 3 of the bunk mattresses are really only suitable for children (thin foam) but otherwise there was everything we needed for a chill out time. Loved the donkey singing to us!

Fabulous bach

We booked Bach Retreat as our base while participating in an adventure race. Fabulous wee place - warm and comfortable with everything we needed (including great showers for after!). Great communication from our very friendly host. Would absolutely recommend and stay again ourselves.
