The property borders a Ramsar International wetlands site which supports a diversity of coastal, intertidal and marine habitats and communities, and is therefore a species-rich environment. It is considered important for conservation of coastal birdlife at the bioregional scale. Most of the wetland is fringed by saltmarsh vegetation and rocky shores. The Site supports a range of globally threatened species such as the critically endangered swift parrot , the endangered Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle (keep your eye out because we have a frequent visitor) and the far eastern curlew. Extensive oyster farming operations occur in the estuary and you will witness the oyster boats passing by.
The property driveway is the historical Sorell - Bellerieve railway cutting which if interested you can read more about in the books provided.
