We just happened upon this property (after driving by the sign for 16 years), we chose it because our teen boys wanted to bring horses and ride in the mountains.
The only thing I would change at all, about Aspen cabin, is to put a screen door on the doors. Other than that it was PERFECT!!!! The cabin was stocked with every kitchen item we needed. The bathroom was exceptional for the size of the place, the shower had a shower head that was AHHHH. Not much cabinet space, but you don't need much room when you can't use any electrical appliance.
The living room was roomy and comfortable. It might have been nice to have an end table or two, but we used totes (that we brought supplies in) so it was no problem at all.
The beds were obviously new and extremely comfortable. They provided a few extra blankets but we brought a few as well.
The deck is small but worked great. We had a couple of hummingbirds come around, one was a bright orange. We did use the propane grill provided one evening for supper, it was great. Our 2 small dogs loved sunning on the deck.
We also brought two horses for the boys to ride on the nearby mountain trails. We are from the Tx Panhandle so we weren't sure how the horses would handle the altitude. They did great. The pens they provided were panels set up, we put both horses in one large pen, but could have configured them anyway we needed. We met the owner on our last day and she said they will be doing more work on this area in the future, but for now they are adequate for the needs of most horses. It was neat that they had moose come up near the horse pens each morning and evening. One morning the boys and my husband went to saddle up the horses and a BIG bull moose was at the trailer sniffing the alfalfa inside. They provided an automatic waterer. When we arrived the pen was covered in tall, fresh, green grass; coming from a hot, dry place the horses immediately gobbled that up. We will bring the horses back and look forward to seeing the improvements they make in the future.
We also brought a Honda side by side. We were disappointed we could not drive it from the stalls (where the trailer was dropped) to the cabin, but it wasn't an issue. I do think allowing that would have been easier on the driveways than our big dually truck.
Oh and the fishing in Oleo's private ponds and streams was the best we've EVER had in LC.
We will most definitely be back as soon as we can. This place is a gem!!
