The unit is in a beautiful location, the complex is nice and having a garage was awesome! The appliances and home were nice, unfortunately Vacasa leaves a lot to be desired in terms of short term rentals. This was not our first time at a Vacasa rental, but it’ll be the last if we have a say. Every time I’ve stayed at a Vacasa managed property there have been numerous issues.
I want to preface this by saying I blame Vacasa for 100% of the issues, I do not blame the employees that I’m sure are paid too little to clean & maintain their rental properties.
We arrived and immediately found multiple issues, the gas fireplace which was mentioned in the listing didn’t work (at least as far as we know, there were no instructions) The sheets in multiple beds seemed to not have been cleaned, including hair and dirt in one bed, and stains on another. The second day we were there, we attempted to set up the air mattress, but discovered that it was broken (meaning the 10 person listing only slept 8) and there was a dirty comforter with a smelly t shirt inside of it rolled up in the air mattress. Luckily, we only had 9 people and the 9th person was able to sleep on the couch. If we had 10, I’m not sure where the last person would have slept.
On the third morning, we completely ran out of toilet paper and paper towels. It turns out we were only given 3.5 rolls of toilet paper, with no extra rolls anywhere in the home. That was just over one roll per bathroom. We had to go out and purchase more toilet paper, along with paper towels as only 1.5 rolls were provided. We also realized that there were no tissues anywhere in the home, which is quite unusual. That by itself isn’t a huge deal, but when there’s also no TP or paper towels it is. This specifically is something I have experienced at other Vacasa rentals, a significant lack of paper products.
We also were going to mention the lack of extra sheets and towels, however when we were cleaning up the home and checking out, we discovered them in the dryer. It would have been nice to be notified about that, just a note or email!
Each of these issues are not dealbreakers, but due to the sheer number they are all worth mentioning.
As I said before, these issues are due to Vacasa, not their employees. I’m sure they are not given enough time to adequately clean every rental. I will not rent from Vacasa or companies like them ever again, private owners provide a much better all around experience.
