Pleasant stay at a wonderful location

We very much enjoyed our stay. The property managers were excellent to work with. The house and furniture were comfortable. The sight and sound of the surf was a pleasure to enjoy all week. We plan to return!

Best for family, not alot of separation.. but perfect as listed, beautiful location.. fishing is relaxing and enjoyable, and close to so many ammenities wothout the congestion

Another great time at Pawley's Island

Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Pawleys Island for 37 years and haves stayed at various places up and down the island, oceanfront, 2nd & 3rd row, north and south. We found Sunset Lodge and fell in love. We’ve stayed here through multiple owners and rental companies and will keep coming backS it’s quaint, it’s cozy and it’s location is absolutely perfect . With the creek in your front yard and the beach for your back yard, you never get bored and there is beauty all around.

We love the location, rockers on the porch, beds made, linens, ready to walk in and enjoy! There were a couple minor things but the manager, Suzanne,responded promptly, as always, and took care of it! We love Suzanne's hospitality and calmness in any situation; especially during all the Covid issues. We feel this is very important when we are renting. We will definitely rent again!

Not worth the money

Just this side of heaven

The updates are lovely... fresh paint and beautifully redone kitchen. We remember the days before this house had air conditioning, so that was of course wonderful. LThe porches are just heavenly— nothing compares to watching the sun rise over the ocean and set over the creek. Our little ones had a blast playing under the house during the heat of the day— no need for beach tents when your house is right there. I took every shower in the downstairs shower under the house. Fishing was plentiful. Walks to the point were an after dinner highlight. The house’s location is prime. How blessed we feel to fall in love with Pawleys again! Emma was so helpful, and I’m so grateful for her help! We’ll be back!

Sunset Lodge

We had a nice two weeks at Sunset Lodge. The cottage is in a great location, about 10 houses down from the south end of the developed part of the island. There is another ¼ to ½ mile of beautiful, undeveloped beach on the south end. The views from both the east and west (front and back) sides of the cottage are gorgeous—the ocean to the east and the creek to the west. There are screened in porches with dining tables on both sides. There is a nice dock on the creek, plus a small beach that makes it easy for launching a kayak. The living area of the cottage is very comfortable, plus there is a nice big dining table for doing large jigsaw puzzles (with room left over for eating, if needed). The kitchen is well equipped—although it could benefit from a new skillet. The beds are also very comfortable. There were just the two of us staying there. The cottage could fairly easily accommodate another couple; but it would be pretty cozy with more people staying, despite the four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms (each with a single sink). Also, there are closets in only two of the bedrooms, and neither of them has much space for hanging clothes, as they are used for storage of odds and ends (Christmas decorations, an extra lamp, an empty box for the coffee maker, etc.). There are only three comfortable (i.e., with cushions) rocking chairs in the screened-in porch that faces the ocean—plenty for just the two of us, but obviously not enough if more than one couple wants to sit on the porch at the same time. The furniture on the outdoor decks (front and back) is a hodgepodge of old and worn wooden and plastic chairs. (One of the plastic chairs actually has a broken slat and should probably be removed.) Please note that in some cases, the photos on VRBO are outdated—the porch no longer has the pictured wicker armchairs, nor the hammock. (The hammock is now located under the house, which seems an odd place for relaxing--no view or sea breeze, and near the air conditioning unit.) Also, the grill in the photos on VRBO is not normally provided, although when asked, TideLife did provide us with one. (Thanks!) Many of these issues are things that could be easily fixed. in sum, we would rent Sunset again.
