My husband, son and I had the truly lovely opportunity to stay at Jerry and Linda's cottage right on Bass Lake just minutes away from the internationally renowned Interlochen Arts Center.
A typical morning began with coffee outside munching on Linda's delicious peanut butter cookies while listening to the loons followed by a gentle kayak paddle across the lake to quietly observe the turtles, loons, green and great blue herons who hang out near the blooming lily-pads (the cottage came with so many fun water toys available for our use!).
As the cottage is conveniently located, day excursions to lighthouses and beaches on Lake Michigan were easy to plan, followed by a wine tasting or two.
The late afternoons and evenings found us back at the cottage on the lake watching Jerry's birds frequent the feeders. We enjoyed the woodpeckers, hummingbirds and gold finches just to name a few feathered friends, and Linda's beautiful gardens always kept us captivated with the different flowering plant species.
The cottage itself was a delightful environment and the ceiling and window fans kept the cottage a nice temperature through the night even with the warm, summer days.
But best of all was meeting Linda and Jerry who made our vacation so very special. We plan to return, and when we do it will feel like returning to visit family.
Just writing this post makes us yearn to go back. Perhaps to see the fall foliage!
Thank you, Jerry and Linda!
