I lived on this property for 10 years before moving back to Taos, NM. I had returned to Kansas City, my birthplace, to assist my elderly mother. I have always been a person who appreciated rural areas so this house fit the bill.
Journalism has been my career and I worked as a correspondent for the Kansas City Star. I had formerly worked for newspapers and magazines in Oregon, California, New Mexico and Colorado. While in Kansas City, I took up painting. My mother was an artist and encouraged me to join a studio in the West Bottoms area of the city. I subsequently participated in shows in the KC Arts District and other venues.
When my husband and I are not in Taos or Kansas City, we let wanderlust take over, and travel in our motorhome. Our idea originally was to visit all national parks. But we seem to be moving slowing. We have stayed many places in the Southwest and traveled up the West Coast, relishing it all.
In 2013, I published a book called Finding Home: How Americans Prevail, about the various iterations of what "we" call home, with interviews of people who were working their way back from displacement.
