Spacious log chalet with free WIFI, great for a few families

A spacious log chalet with a large living room. The log burner fills the chalet with a glowing warmth and it’s lovely to retire here after a day of outdoor fun. The kitchen is open plan and fully equipped to dish up a lovely meal.

The large living room offers ample space for everyone to relax. One leather lounge settee is focussed around the log burner which fills the chalet with a glowing warmth and it’s lovely to retire here after a day of outdoor fun. The other settee is set up around a TV with freeview. The kitchen has an oven/hob, big fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

The 2 bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, have a shower, basin and toilet each.
One upstairs bedroom (with a double and single bed) opens up onto a large balcony with fantastic views. The downstairs bedroom has a comfortable queensize bed. The big bedroom upstairs has an american kingsize bed and 2 singles; the other in between bedroom contains 3 singles and extra matresses. An extra TV in this room gives the kids their own space and leaves the adults in peace downstairs. The mezzanine floor offers a quiet corner to relax with a book and a view to the garden.

The large lawns around the chalet offer plenty of space to play games both in summer and winter. Free WIFI is included. Dogs are allowed but need to stay outside.
On the outdoor deck is a spa which can be booked for use ($80 for the stay); 48 hr notice is required.
Note that bedlinens/towels are not standard included but can be arranged on request.

Our booking got cancelled the day before our trip as the booking supposedly didn’t go through. We had a couple options to travel on the next day or sleep in two different cabins. Host were generous enough to give us an extra day which was very kind. First cabin was great and we loved everything about the place, second cabin was horrible with the fireplace being clogged up therefore smoking out the whole place. Decided to end our trip a day early as it was too cold and we had to use 3 heaters just to stay warm. Unlikely to go back to Mt Lyford which is a shame as we had visited the place two years in a row.

Lovely weekend escape!

We had a wonderful girls weekend in Mt Lyford, staying in this lovely log lodge. Everything was as advertised and a lovely location. Communication with Claudine was exceptional and we would definitely consider staying with Mt Lyford Holiday Homes again.

Spa under the stars

Lovely cosy house with heaps of space. Had a wonderful stay and the rain didn’t bother us with the roaring log burner and spa outside. Stars were magnificent when the sky was clear. A couple of nice walks in the bush nearby too. WiFi was excellent.

Great for Families

We had two families with young kids with us and found it a great place to stay! They loved the green grass and trampoline and we loved the space, the spa and the amenities available. Would love to stay again! The host was amazing too. Great place, thank you :)

Break from the city

Large house suitable for many people. Great log fire. It was cool at night so fire was a great assett. Good local walks. Beautiful surrounding farmland. Day trips to Kaikoura and Hanmer Springs.

It was such a rare find... The lodge was lovely. Lots of tracks... Warm at nice putting the fire on... I'd highly recommend it!

Weekend away

The house was absolutely gorgeous and the scenery was spectacular. Great communication with the property manager but would suggest some signs or reminders explaining the hot water situation as a guest was burnt while having a shower. The property manager was sympathetic and acknowledged the situation which we were thankful for. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay.
